Something I remember seeing was a Chinese document showing different US politicians and their orientation toward the CCP, and Andy Cuomo was in the category that was considered most hostile. Every time I see the Dem machine putting another knife into a Cuomo, I think about that.

Got details confused: Obama's preferred mouthpiece cable media-wise is MSNBC, not CNN. CNN is pure Clinton (hence the longstanding joke about them being Clinton News Network). See how fast they abandoned their wishy washy centrist POV they held during the Bush Years compared to how hard they switched to shitting on Trump. They were given orders by the Clintons to quadruple down on Russiagate and Trump bashing.
CNN still has use to the DNC, especially since they are now quadrupling down on left wing stuff to compete with MSNBC. Because Andrew was a presidential hopeful and made no secret of it. They have a position of strength for now, but it’s tenuous for many different reasons, not the least of which is that absolutely no one outside of the parties that set it up trusts them worth a damn after everything in 2020. The play from that is to hunker down if possible and try to keep things light so you aren’t overexposing your assets. The problem with trying to control with blackmail is that they might say fuck it and try to burn you back; and Cuomo is a long-serving governor from an entrenched political family in their main financial center; so he’s going to know where a lot of bodies are buried.
As for why they used the sex shit, as others have said Dem govs followed his lead. Most outlets on their side also don’t value human life, so sexual harrasment makes him more disgusting to them than actual fucking corpses.

He did have an interesting point on Arizona's election in 2018 and California's mail in votes that year as well being a test run for 2020.
Extending voting hours to beyond reasonable well established lengths and mail in ballots counted beyond election day really did the trick in 2020.
