It's really not the worst thing that can happen to an animal - the animal just goes to sleep. Having to live in a twisted abomination of a body? That is one of the worst fates an animal can have. Animals don't understand their own mortality but they do understand pain and suffering. What is the point of spending thousands to care for an animal that will be in pain all the time? So the rescuer can feel self-righteous?

I'm not one to think we can legislate our way out of all of our problems but maybe we should consider purposely breeding pets to have harmful deformities as animal cruelty. Then again we don't enforce laws to protect animals that well as it is so it may make little damn difference.

Fully agree and these breeders KNOW about the issues and inbreed that same blood super heavy. I know inbreeding happens to an extent in all dog breeds but breeders will typically outcross at some point so the blood doesn’t get too tight. These exotic frenchie/bully breeders aren’t doing that.
