I highly doubt he's dropped using a discord server altogether, he needs to keep tabs on things when he wants certain troll activity and drahma shut down (remember how he had an entire list of different insulting words directed at him that he blocked on twitch) because just like you said, he wants to control the narrative, Phil has grown to absolutely despise when people call out his lies right in the moment and when he can't get to them in time when he's not policing the chat, that's what his mods are there for.
A discord server was the easiest method his mods could communicate, his only other avenue of messaging was via email really (although we know that OIC up until that mod discord leak did not have access to that server and presumably was messaging Phil via some other means).
Phil could theoretically attempt to run a subreddit by the exact same sort of people who mod his streams (if they're somewhat smart enough to work out the tools, using reddit systems are an absolute pain if you don't know much about CSS or dealing with bots/spam). But that's a whole other kettle of fish, it would require them to be relatively active to filter out entire troll related content in some fashion, mess with reddit's posting requirements to make it so people can't use many socks, deal with brigading from other subreddits, and also make it so people on there would follow the rules set up by the mods and/or Phil if he's going to have any part in running it (I'm going to guess you would have a lot of ironic fans on a knife-edge with being overly criticical or attempting to start a shit fest in there, the downvoting feature would actually be an interesting testament to see how much his wheelchairs value his opinion, as you can't really see that most of the time in his chat, and his forums are basically an even bigger echo chamber then your typical subreddit).
Essentially it would be an empty husk of what your typical fan subreddit would be, it wouldn't ever get off the ground and the fact that it would get constantly overwhelmed by trolls would drive his wheelchairs away in fear of upsetting the gout lord by associating with those heretical detractors!

I mean ffs even his gameplay streams bartely break 1k views. He should just make a podcast he gets more views, no issues with copyright strikes and what not. If Phil started to do just podcasts, he'd have nothing left to blame for his piss poor viewership. At least the games give him something to blame. Also they may attract him a new paypig once in a while.
Also a podcast would require Phil to talk for the entire time and his game commentary shows that he can't do even that.

Also, doing a podcast isn't as easy as just hitting record and then ranting and raving at a mic for a few hours, especially since it'll be a one man show and since he'll most likely never have any guests on. I usually listen to a podcast ran by 3 guys from around where I live. It usually lasts an hour and a half and it runs Mon-Fri. One time they were asked about advice for starting and running a podcast and they said that the hardest part about it is finding enough material to work with, especially since they do their show every workday and it's just a hobby for them, they have other real life obligations to attend to. Phil does his prestream 6 days a week and it lasts an hour and most of his prestreams are just begging, therapy or seething sessions, there's no actual meat to it, it's not "meaningful khantent" as Phil would call it, the only value in watching it is to see what happens when a man slowly loses his fucking mind due to multiple addictions and more than half a decade of isolating himself from society. Can you imagine if he does what he'll say he'd maybe do and turn the night stream into a 100% talk stream? If he doesn't get rid of his prestream then that's 3 hours of talking for 6 days a week. He'll run out of things to talk about by day 2.
You have to do prep before each show, see which topics you'll discuss and then research them and we've seen how pathetic even his gaming news coverage is whenever he does it on the Prestream Talk Therapy Session or when he watches E3 or any other such gaming convention. He was so fucking retarded he couldn't even find release dates for half the games and bitched about the lack of release dates until fucking SuperBlindMan of all people found all of those release dates and posted them. A fucking BLIND MAN can do better research into things than this pigger. When the Blizzard sexual harassment controversy was revealed, he read like 3 article headlines and then did this bizarre coverage of it where he started speculating and making up hypotheticals about this controversy when most of the details he speculated about were already known. His news coverage is somehow on a much lower level than the Youtube S(k)eptics. You know who I'm talking about, people like S'rg'n "Carl, the Swindler of Swindon" of Akkad who just read an article in its entirety and just intersperse random smug chuckles during their reading. At least those kind of people read the entire article, Phil can't be even bothered to do that.

Even Stern had to make friends to fill the morning zoo hours, and carefully not burn bridges with celebrities. He butted heads with management, but if Howard Stern were DSP, Stern would not be one of the most favored creepy Jewish uncles of America. Stern could boot up a computer and make a call and have at least two c listers lined up for an appearance and a call from a b lister. Phil would insist any guest on his podcast pay him.
So the podcast as radio show format won't work. And Phil is too much of a dumb motherfucker to be one of those skilled niche podcasts. Even those rely on having people in the field you choose to talk to. Any SME in Phil's orbit knows not to associate with Phil.
Man, painting yourself into a corner sucks.

Both of these statements ARE accurate, but they're not the reason Phil is going to stick with his long-held format forever. That would be the fact that his pre-streams exist to satisfy one of his vices, that being the urge to ramble about whatever until he's done doing that. There's a reason they're long as fuck these days but not literally the whole stream. Perhaps one day Phil will have enough to rant about that his first stream of the day consists of absolutely zero gameplay, but that will be determined by his mood that day, not any kind of plan.
Add onto that the fact that Phil so thoroughly despises that his gameplay doesn't attract viewers (we know it doesn't make sense to be incensed by that given the state of said gameplay, but he's a pigroach and gives no fucks about logic), and so even if when he's REALLY in the mod to rant for more of his stream time than usual, if it's after the pre-stream, he gets irritated by this impulse of his. Or, rather, whatever baiting went into triggering an impromptu rant, because he never blames himself, and does admittedly have to be poked into saying more than his usual dull commentary during gameplay.
So there's no such thing as him agreeing to fill a legit podcast with the kinds of ramblings that would make the transition worth it to him, since it would require him giving into all the troll-bait.
The only reason Phil has changed the name is because he also hates people calling attention to how stupidly long they are, and this is his way of giving them the finger. It's not a sign of things to come, it's yet another display of immaturity and entitlement.

(Recently went to a school reunion which showed me people are only ever jealous and petty when it comes to any success but theirs)

Considering how angry Howard got over Phil publicizing the death of an OG Street Fighter player for profit, I'm guessing he would sooner literally shit on the pigroach's grave. Rambo wasn't so pissed, but obviously has no intention of trusting Phil ever again.
And there's a reason they haven't called him despite his number being the same all these years later.

I'm curious, when something bad happens to phil around the holidays has he ever used the "and they did it on christmas" victim "tech"?
I ask cause, this story about Totally Not Mark and the 150 toei copyright claims reminded me of a very special episode of DSP streams where he has to play the massive victim card.
Context, Mark is a Anime/Manga reviewer (I think) who built a business and "livelihood" on the back of someone elses intellectual property on youtube.
He got 150 copyright strikes from toei over a 2 week period, which as we know never happens to any reviewer especially on youtube, so sound business decision. He released a very special video and hit every spot on the DSP victim segment bingo card...and then some.

I'll give Phil. hi again, credit where credit is due in comparison. It kinda amazed me, someone more popular and successful than PP but actually as hard as it is to believe either dumber or more delusional.
PP knows better than to toe the line with fair use especially on youtube he sure as gout wouldn't build an entire business on the back of someone else's IP. Amazingly in comparison to Mark, PP actually had a back upscam plan for his GTA and GotG playthroughs and he knows better than to play and Atlas game.
I would argue that, just being honest, PP isn't so far gone that he would think that on of all places youtube that if he did of all types of content as media review; which is plagued by abuse of fair use; he would be never free from strikes especially from a company like toei so he puts all his snorts in one basket.

One thing that amazes me about the podcast thing is that Phil has the life experience of a teenager. He has no interesting hobbies, no knowledge of useful stuff, nothing.
So how the fuck can this guy talk so much during the prestreams? I've never listened to an entire prestream, but it's wild how a guy who has no interesting characteristics can talk to himself for one hour or more almost everyday.

Phil's prestream is almost all repeating the same scripted begging lines, manipulative cult lines about duh trolls, same stories about his 12 year career. Sometimes he has a tiny thing in his life that he grossly exaggerates to change it up. He could seriously prerecord it and we'd struggle to tell the difference other than the shoutouts.
