I think Metokur was at the point where it would be stupid him for not to take stream donations. Did he do a Patreon? I do think Sargon had a point about how people should of 'lead' Gamergate despite how fucking cringey and gay that sounds. Jim had/ has a lot of influence and I don't hate him or blame him for not taking the reigns and telling nerds to firebomb Google and throw acid at Jack Dorsey's face in the name of Cyber Allah and videogames. Maybe he could've actually held a discourse about what you could've done about Ethics in Games Journalism besides bitch on /v/, I don't really know, but we do know that Sargon killed a political party when he tried to lead the charge.
Back to the money issue, a few people I like have moral and ethics issues about taking money by doing silly videos on the internet. Demolition D+ had a stream about how he doesn't see it as a real job, you're not making anything or selling a service. It's gay bullshit being an internet talkshow host unless you kinda do what Null does and host a website for autists and losers to talk about autists and losers. I don't think that Jim is Bill Watterson where he doesn't want to sell out, but probably he wants to keep his internet presence out of his actual life. Fingerfucking Jade on stream probably brought him back to Earth when he was getting high on farts.
