This isn't really a bad thing for the Republican party, though.
I'll be pulling the lever for Republicans in 2022 and 2024 and that's not something I'm used to doing. I still have major differences with the GOP on several issues that are very important to a lot of people in the party. But at the end of the day I won't be voting for people who want permanent emergency powers. When I first came of age, it was during the 9/11 era. So a lot of the reason I started voting D in the first place is that it seemed like the Republicans were at that time more likely to enact a number of emergency powers declarations that never went away and moved the country further away from representing the people.
Back then the Dems had a lot fewer hard and fast litmus tests. Today people holding normal human opinions like "men are faster than women so we shouldn't let them into women's sports regardless of their preferred pronouns" or "we have a problem with crime in black neighborhoods and they need more policing" are enough to get you declared a fascist Nazi sympathizer. And the GOP's response, cleverly, has been to welcome all the new heretics with open arms, even when those heretics are still squeamish about aspects of the party platform.
You can either have party purity, or a landslide. Pick one. You literally can't make the American electorate all think the same way. There's too many different ways of life and cultural norms. If you want a massive electoral wave, you do it by telling people they don't have to believe in everything you say to know that you're offering them a better deal than the other guy.

Reminder that you can turn off everything Google related on your android phone and not have to use any of their services. This includes the play store and any payment options any of the apps use (it'll either say error or crash the app so it prevents you from buying anything). There are many alternatives to anything Google related.
Stores:
F-Droid: Open-Source app store that contains open-source apps that not only are lightweight (i.e. less storage space) but they have VERY little to no trackers on said apps. Majority safer alternatives to any Google shit can be found on here, including browsers, weather and map apps, speech/voice recorders, etc...
Aurora Store: Alternate Google Play. It creates a dummy account for you so you can browse/download apps without needing a google account.
Aptoide: Another app store, the difference here is that not only can you find old shit that doesn't exist on Google Play anymore, but you could also get lucky and find paid-apps for free (specifically with games such as Lara Croft GO/Hitman GO)
QooApp: Weeb Shit. Can download apps from other languages (Japan/Korea/etc...)

Looks like Capitol Police fucked up yesterday. An aide brought a gun into the Capitol while the building was locked down, only a few hours before Biden and Harris were supposed to show up there. He's been arrested and charged for carrying a pistol without a license, but some Congress critters such as Tim Ryan just happened to be talking about holding a committee hearing on the state of the Capitol Police as the aide was being arrested. Expect the inevitable grilling by concern-baiting Senators and Representatives, followed by more funds being diverted to the understaffed Capitol Police (who now operate offices in San Francisco, New York and Dallas).
