Just because I want to make a point here, do you know what Dick Swaab actually argues, and has concluded from his studies? Prenatal exposure to androgens, not gynogens (including estrogens), seems to influence homosexuality in both genders.* Exposure to androgens correlates to gender atypical behaviors in childhood, like a preference for toys of the opposite gender, wishing to dress as the opposite gender, and homosexuality. Despite the claims that gender is fully a social construct, there definitely does seem to be some neurobiological basis for it, because as early as eight months children are already showing marked differences in the toys that they want to play with. The interesting thing here is whether or not they may be mimicking others of their gender that they have seen, which does seem to be a possibility as an influence. So, transgenderism and homosexuality are related, and while not every homosexual is trans, many many homosexuals will report gender variant behavior as children. Interestingly there is also evidence that homosexual men have larger penises on average, another sign of exposure to androgens.

Conversely, exposure to DES, a synthetic estrogen, and other estrogens in utero, has not shown an increase in trans identification in men (the one study, done in 2020, on DES specifically showed a very low incidence of transgenderism in DES sons, around 0.2%, below the population norm, so if it did have an effect it would be a very muted one). What it does do is raise the risk of testicular cancers, and does seem to have led to abnormal genital development, most commonly micropenis/penile deformations like the urethra opening at the wrong place, and/or undescended or absent testicles. It is associated with hypogonadism, the lack of androgens being present at normal levels, so would be even further evidence that it shouldn't be producing trans behavior from any of the hormonal mechanisms we currently sort of understand. I am actually very sympathetic to the trans community, though I have doubts that surgical alteration is actually the best solution. But there is a stark difference between trans women who report early gender nonconformity and are attracted to men, and trans women who suddenly transition later in life and show attraction to women.
