A mild bit of cheer on my way home tonight- the biggest regional rock radio station says Jason Kenney (Alberta Premier) will be making a Covid-related announcement on Tuesday.

At first I was pissed off because I assumed that meant more lockdowns for the holidays. Then the DJ said, quoting roughly, that he heard Kenney is cranking the restrictions back. People are not following them and Kenney wants to be on “the side of the angels”, whatever that means.

And the DJ said he was happy, because no one in the crew he runs with gives a crap about restrictions, and no one who calls the station supports them. And if you, dear listener, really believe in them, bless you but we’ve had enough.

I don’t know what’s coming next week but just hearing that was encouraging.

Family physician chief Weigeldt expects a fourth Corona vaccination next year. He said protection against the virus must become routine.

The current booster vaccinations will not be the last needed against Corona, according to Ulrich Weigeldt, head of the Family Physicians Association.

"We expect that a fourth vaccination will be necessary in the summer, or at the latest in the fall," he told the Bild newspaper. He said he hoped the fourth Corona vaccination could then be administered "already in conjunction with the flu vaccination," "in order to make protection against Corona routine."

Omicron vaccination needed soon?
There are already signs that vaccination against the Omikron variant of the virus may become necessary.
Manufacturers Biontech/Pfizer believe their vaccine will continue to protect against severe disease. They plan to make a vaccine adapted to Omikron available by March, subject to regulatory approval.

Vaccination by pharmacists and veterinarians
Weigeldt is critical of the involvement of pharmacists and veterinarians in the Corona vaccination campaign. It is "questionable if, for example, there is no doctor on site at the pharmacy who can intervene in the event of - very rare - complications," the head of family medicine told Bild.
Also from the employment of the veterinary surgeons in vaccination centers he expects "hardly an effect on the vaccination campaign". In any case, the vast majority of vaccinations take place in practices, he added. "It would be better if as much vaccine as possible reached the practices," Weigeldt added.

Innovations in the vaccination campaign
The Bundestag and Bundesrat had approved the new Infection Protection Act on Friday, which, in addition to mandatory vaccination for staff in medical care and nursing facilities, also provides for innovations in the vaccination campaign.
According to this, dentists, veterinarians and pharmacists can in future additionally vaccinate against the coronavirus. The prerequisite is appropriate training.

No, there won't be a doctor present, which is what is being critized.

To be fair, as long as there have been vaccinations it has always been said that it has to be injected by a doctor in case of anaphylactic shock or other complications, this is nothing unusual.
Now the government wants to extend vaccination to pharmacists and veterinarians to boost more people faster, they don't care about the risk, which again confirms that it's not about health at all.
But really, the general practicioners' chief is just using that as a pretext. If others are also allowed to vaccinate, this dips into the profit of the GPs.

I wish people could see what it's like where I live. No masks. No lockdowns. No mandates. Little to no "cases", and no covid deaths for over a year now. Oh, and the majority of people in the community are un-vaxxed. I've never worn a mask, and have never taken one jab, let alone 2 and a so-called booster. I'm doing just fine. Life is normal.

How did my community do it? Well, we're a bunch of highly independent like minded gun toting rednecks who simply said fuck you to masks and jabs and lockdowns early on, and we said it consistently. I suspect widespread natural immunity also plays a big role in the extremely low number of "cases" and no deaths.

It's heartbreaking to see so much of the rest of the world tearing itself apart over all this knowing from firsthand experience that it doesn't have to be this way.

In Germany they're now doing mandatory vaccinations for healthcare workers and so on starting March 2022, so everyone who gets it by then would probably have to get ANOTHER come 2022 winter wave, because timing.
The Bavarian prime minister has babbled about how it's a pandemic of the unvaccinated, but it turned out that their numbers were hilariously incorrect. For a huge number of cases they simply didn't know the vaccination status, so just counted them as unvaccinated. They still refuse to actually give proper numbers, citing it'd be too much work for the official bureaus to find all that out. Also, it'd be bad for the narrative.

Would the game-changer be the future release of new variant-busting vaccines to tame Omicron? But surely then there would be a desire for people to prove they had the new Omicron vaccine booster, and a renewed clamour to extend the vaccine pass system all over again.

Repeat for the next variant, and then the next one and, inevitably, the next one... It could become a self-sustaining loop, an endlessly spooling egg-timer of a restriction that lasts as long as there is even the remotest hint of a threat from any new Covid variant. If it goes on that long the structure of the system might outlast the threat from the virus itself.

Listened to the relevant chunk of the interview and took a quick look-around to see what I could find. From what I've been able to scare up, it looks like they're planning on filing a breach of contract and tortious interference claim against Elsevier in the Dutch court system, which is going to make tracking it a bit harder as Eurolaw isn't my turf. I can find no citation or other confirmation that they've actually filed yet, so unfortunately there's no court docs for me to scan through as of the moment. Hopefully McCullough will publicly post his filing whenever it actually happens, assuming he and Elsevier don't work things out beforehand.

McCullough claims that the terms of his contract with Elsevier allowed for them to reject the paper at the relevant stage of publication only if it were determined that there was "scientific illegitimacy" with the paper -- a three-piece suit way of saying "it's fraudulent bullshit." He asserts that Elsevier never cited that as their reason, and that they have never actually given a reason, either in public or in private. That latter part does seem to be true -- if you go to the page where the paper used to be, it has Elsevier's retraction PDF there as a placeholder, and it gives no reason.

It appears that one of the reasons for the dispute has to do with Rose and McCullough representing themselves as having any affiliation with Baylor still.

Last month, Baylor Scott & White obtained a restraining order against McCullough — whom Medscape says “has promoted the use of therapies seen as unproven for the treatment of COVID-19 and has questioned the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines” — for continuing to refer to an affiliation with the health care institution despite a separation agreement. “Since the Baylor suit, the Texas A&M College of Medicine, and the Texas Christian University (TCU) and University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) School of Medicine have both removed McCullough from their faculties,” Medscape reported at the time.

They've since republished the paper in Clinical & Translation Science, Vol. 3 under the title "Critical Appraisal of VAERS Pharmacovigilance: Is the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) a Functioning Pharmacovigilance System?"(direct PDF, also attached). Haven't read it, so no comments on its contents, but perhaps someone else will enjoy its medical autism.

So his insistence on using "unproven" early treatment methods got him booted. In the eyes of staunch pro-vaxxers, he's a quack working for the filthy Ivermectin/hydroxychloroquin lobby,
I can't understand why he would keep the affiliation to BS&W. I wouldn't be surprised if he got booted from there just around when he published the article, and didn't bother to change his affiliation in time on the paper, so Elsevier got him on a technicality.
