Consider the following:
1) Bardfinn is an unreliable narrator. When he tells a story, he always leaves out 99%-85% of pertinent information that will help you understand what actually happened, as opposed to the false narrative that he is trying to push, by withholding relevant information, just to make himself look like the victim. One thing we know about Bardfinn is that he likes to pretend that the people contacting him online are doing so seemingly out of the blue and for seemingly no other reason than to bother him. Upon closer investigation, it usually turns out they contacted him because they did have some legitimate business or legitimate concerns to discuss with him. It was rather Bardfinn who lapsed into hystriotics for no reason, and, having nothing to say to his defense, slammed the door in their faces and then tried to pull a: "I told them 'no' but they won't let it go!" so as to make himself inaccessible and hence unswerable for his shitty behaviour, which is likely the only reason anyone would want to contact him: to confront him about something incredibly shitty he did.
2) Bardfinn claims that the person he wants to call out is "an academic". I find the idea of an actual academic associating themselves with Bardfinn quite laughable, but perhaps this was a young, naive student with little hands-on experience with actual science, who was perhaps misled by Bardfinn's false claims on Reddit about being a "retired scientist" who is a "patent holder" and is conducting some kind of vague "research into Natsees and white-superemacists" on Reddit. It's likely that the very reason Bardfinn is perpetrating all these blatant lies about his background and credentials is because he wants to rope in young and naive students to get them involved with /r/AHS and /r/Masstagger, perhaps even hoping to get a foot in the door of academia through them. We all know how desperately Bardfinn wishes he was a real scholar but can't be because of his extensive criminal record, his violent tendencies and his long history of mental illness. Someone like Bardfinn lying about being researcher on Reddit before young impressionable students is "a wolf in sheep's clothing", but we all know he's doing this with Reddit's blessings, and they don't give a flying fuck about him lying and misrepresenting himself and his research to rope young people into doing his bidding. (This is effectively why he lied about being trans so he could become an /r/ContraPoints moderator: to recruit Nyk's young, very politicized fans to do his bidding. ContraPoints was perfectly happy to allow his subreddit to be used for this purpose.)
I would expect any student reaching out to a purported scientist online to take the time check their resumé and credentials first, but for all we know this person is young, is just starting out and doesn't know the fact-checking protocol yet. It's possible this naive student reached out to Bardfinn, only to realize (or have explained to them) that what Bardfinn is doing is not legitimate research and is like even unlawful by his own public admission. It possible that this theoretical student decided to confront Bardfinn with their concerns about the nature of his research and the illegality thereof, whereupon Bardfinn slammed the door in their face and accused the student of harassing him, so as to turn the tables on them.
3) Bardfinn accuses this academic he wants to call out of "recruiting people" to harass him. I call bull on this straight-up, because, lo behold, this is the same false accusation he levelled at yours truly. If you'll recall, in one of his demented rants about me (and I want to stress here that he has never interacted with me in any way; he has wrongfully accused a number hapless Redditors of being me, which is paranoia), he claimed that I was contacted by someone purporting to be from 4chan and that I passed along his doxx to 4chan, effectively claiming that I recruited channers to help me doxx him. Nothing of the sort ever happened. I have never been contacted by anyone purporting to be from 4chan and I have never been asked by anyone, from 4chan or anywhere else, to share Bardfinn's doxx. All I said is that I was able to find him in at whitepages.com, where to my knowledge he is still listed to this day. Given that Bardfinn lied about me being in touch with channers, I assume he's likewise lying about his latest target "recruiting people" online to harass him. The way this is worded led me to the suspicion that someone likely involved with AHS or QAH has likely discovered how they actually operate and rage-quit (like the whistleblower that AHS still claims was false and staged), probably due to something Bardfinn did, and this led to a split in the group, with part of the group siding with this academic person and against Bardfinn. Bardfinn misrepresents this alleged split as "academic X recruiting peope to harass me". This is just a common trope that Bardfinn resorts to whenever he wants to look like a victim.
4) Let's face it, this academic is most likely another trannie. You've all seen SJW TRAs go after cis women academics, and how they put $cientology's fair-gaming to shame when they do. We all know "the gloves are off" when TRAs target cis women academics who refuse to suq the gurldiq, just look at all the TERF academics who were targeted by TRAs in the UK, most recently dr. Kathleen Stock, a British feminist philosopher who had to quit her job due to being targeted by a rabid mob of TRAs who plastered the halls of her school. Bardfinn would not be this taciturn and reluctant if the person he wanted to call out was a cis woman. If Bardfinn's latest target was a cis woman he would go in for the kill, without a moment of hesitation. Very likely Bardfinn wants to call out someone he considers part of his in-group and is worried about a backlash against himself because of the evident leftwing cannibalism of trannie calling out another trannie. Hence why this led me to the suspicion that there might have been some kind of inner conflict in AHS and/or QAH with a split behind the scenes.
5) Bardfinn tries to cloak his assumed conflict with this academic in the language of gender, sexism and transphobia, which is disgustingly misleading because Bardfinn openly admitted on multiple occasions that he doesn't try to pass IRL and that not even his parents know he's trans, meaning, he hasn't visually transitioned in any perceptible way at all, and is likely not immediately perceived as trans by anyone at all encountering him IRL, including his own son who continues to refer to him as "dad". Being trans for Bardfinn is not his daily reality (like that of an actual trans person who is instantly perceived as trans), but it is just a LARP on the internet that allows Bardfinn to play and win in "oppression olympics". In his Twatter thread, Barfinn doesn't say outright but alludes to this academic having told him to "act normal" and/or "be polite". Bardfinn insists that these admonitions were due to sexism and transphobia, because supposedly only (trans)women are expected to "act normal" or "be polite", which is a plainly ridiculous assertion. In a scholarly setting, an academic is obviously expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to be a team-player towards other academics. (If Bardfinn was supposedly such a man of science and such a #WomenInSTEM wouldn't have already know that this is expected of him?) Presumably this was the actual context in which this academic admonished Bardfinn to "act normal" and "be polite", just like they would to any other colleague in academia who was misbehaving. It is kinda [rainbow] of them to expect a semblance of normaly or professional courtesy from someone as mentally ill as Bardfinn, but again, perhaps this person is just a student and naive.
