Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Yeah, let's assume that this is what they wanted. Let me outline their plan:
1. Defund the police!
2. Crime surges, to nobody's surprise
3. Refund the police!
4. ???

They stand NOTHING to gain from temporarily implementing their retarded policies, being shown to be categorical failures, and then rolling back the original police budget, unless this is a 5D multiversal chess move by moderate Democrats to discredit the fringe.

Oh, I know that for sure. Chicago for example hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1931, yet Democrats still run on "we need to keep our city safe from Republicans." Oh yeah, because THAT'S the problem with Chicago right now.

Voters are, by and large, retarded, but even they still remember "defund the police", especially those living in the cities most affected by skyrocketing crime.

This is something that can, in no way, shape or form, be believably blamed on Republicans. I have no doubt in my mind that this bullshit was pushed by the "Utopian" wing of the left, which genuinely believes that if white people were exterminated the world would be all peace love and happiness, and all violence would end.

Oh, they absolutely tried.

I remember Biden flat out saying that Republicans wanted to "defund the police" because the Republicans voted against some bullshit bill that had some minor police funding in it, and when I brought it up to my hard lefty friends, they legit said "where is Biden wrong?" Shockingly, I haven't spoken to them directly in over a year.

Some yes but most of these politicians calling to defund the police were also hiring private security at the same time. All the policies and laws that lead to a lack of accountability and abuse of authority by police, which is a real issue are still on the books. Defund the police was just smokescreen to satisfy progs and low IQ voters who didn't realize it's just as easy to refund the police as it is o defund them, but progs and BLM were celebrating the defunding of police as some great victory all the same.

It was obvious from the start that after all the heat and pressure for police reform died down that this was going to happen.

I would have said not giving the police extra funding is not the same as defunding. The clue is in the word.

Some Bongs might confirm this here but that kind of talk is normal over there when it comes NHS funding.

One party will pledge to raise funding by 10 million the other will then say they pledge 15 million and the other party want to defund the NHS by 5 million.

Quietly cutting the budget would probably affect a department and community, but not as immediately as ginning up class war against cops and telling them they're evil. The policies are a second-order effect of the insane rhetoric the Dems and their activists get away with. We can debate "what are police departments using their money for?" We can't debate "having a police system is immoral!" By short-circuiting the rules of debate, they are killing the country's ability to get along and relying on medieval scapegoating.

I tried to point out that the media lies all the time to a left leaning friend. In an example it was Adam Schiff talking out of his ass on CNN and no one called him out. My friend replied "Schiff lying is not CNN lying."

I think Matt Taibbi on the Joe Rogan podcast said "community leaders started looking awkwardly at each other because they had to respond to the spike in crime." If they had an option they would keep the police defunded.

Basically, Salubrious is correct. No community leader had an answer to this problem or a plan to handle it. This was the only move they had.
