I mentioned Saruei when she debuted back in August. Seems she's had steady growth since, and managed to pull together a pretty impressive 3D debut just yesterday.

Not to diminish the work of Hololive and the other corporate vtubers, but it's impressive just how quickly indies can work when every new idea doesn't have to pass through management first.

Today she's streaming some VR using her new model if you want to see it in action:

I mean, JP is still a bigger market than EN, so it's not that surprising that she has more subscribers. Just compare the concurrent viewers of Gura to people like Marine and Pekora who are usually streaming during prime time with 10+ other members. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that it's a good indicator of the market size.

Yeah, I think Gura's high sub count kinda blinds people to the fact that Japan is still the main market for vtubers. Look at the highest watched or superchatted vtubers on any given week and they'll probably be mostly Japanese unless there's a particular event or special thing going on in HoloEN.

Take 2 in 20 minutes!

Why are these all over half a stream of them talking about the outfit. Can they not just start the stream with the outfit on. When i said they should just put a picture of it and be done with it earlier, i didn't mean it literally, yet here we are. Only a picture for an hour. And the actual outfit in the last few minutes

Increased audience engagement when you're talking about things the audience has submitted, sets up a hype train in advance, etc.

Then they should show the outfit, and then play a game with it on afterwards. Not spend over an hour talking about it. I don't even know how you can spend an hour talking about the same outfit but they found a way.
Extending it keeps the viewer counts high for longer and results in more supas.

A large portion of the viewers leave the moment any outfit is fully revealed. They don't care about what happens afterwards, so showing the outfit in the first minute would just drop the viewers to regular stream levels even if she plays games with it.

Thats a lot of extras. It quite in ya face, like literally.
