borsabil I'm feeling completely dense, in your summary of the UK figures pg. 3399, none of what you were saying matched up with the tables. You were putting your comments 'under' the tables right?
borsabil

He's determining the ratio of hospitalization : total cases, then the same for mortalities.

So for example, he got the hospitalization rate for unvaccinated people age 80+ as 36% (35.5% to be precise). He did 208/586. 208 comes from the "Cases presenting to emergency care" table, the 586 is from the above table, "Cases reported etc etc week 45-48".

Rather than adding all the hospitalizations, and then looking at how that sum is split among vaccinated and unvaccinated, he looked at the total number infected within each of the three categories (the third one being "unlinked"), and how many of those were hospitalized within each of the categories. That gives a better picture of the effectiveness of the vaccines.

EDIT - sorry, ninja'd by borsabil himself, it seems.

Crap! As Philly become even crappier now they announced covid passport for indoor dining.

The City of Philadelphia will mandate proof of COVID-19 vaccination for indoor restaurants, bars, and similar venues starting Jan. 3, according to the city’s health commissioner in an announcement Monday.

“Any place that sells food or drink to be consumed on-site will have to require that everyone who enters be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Bettigole said Monday.

From Jan. 3 to Jan. 17, establishments may accept proof of a negative COVID-19 test instead of proof of vaccination, she said.

“That negative COVID test must have been for the last 24 hours,” Bettigole said. “Then, after January 17, negative COVID-19 tests will no longer be accepted and everyone must have completed their primary COVID vaccination series.”

The mandate also applies to sporting venues, including the Wells Fargo Center. People will have to show proof of vaccination to watch a Philadelphia 76ers or Flyers game, she suggested.

“It applies to most of the Wells Fargo Center because people eat throughout the space,” Bettigole announced. “We do not want to close our restaurants,” she continued. “So that’s the reason for the vaccine mandate.”

Bettigole said that the mandate will also apply to children who are 5 years and 3 months and older. Those children, she added, would have to have their first dose of the vaccine by Jan. 3 and the second by Feb. 3 in order to enter an establishment.

I live in a blue state. Been at the hospital with my mother. While you have to wear a mask to get in, they don't do any fever checks or even screening questions. Nobody asked about my vaccination status. The official policy at the hospital is that while you are in your room, you don't have to wear a mask -- even visitors. You need to put one on when someone comes in the room or when you step out of it, but I've been able to stay in the room mask free. A couple of times I forgot to put a mask on when someone came in, but nobody asked me to put one on.

When they were moving my mom from the ER to her room, they forgot to put a mask on her. Seems like most of the staff just half-heartedly follows the rules. They do all wear their masks (I'm sure they have to), but they haven't really been that pushy with anyone else.

I'm okay with wearing the mask at the hospital because that's where the sick people are. The only place I feel like I'd be at risk of catching the coof is in the ER waiting room which is the only entrance to the hospital open at the moment. Which honestly is a pretty dumb system because you are funneling visitors who aren't sick through a waiting room of people who are, but whatever. I don't try to make sense of the policies.

I had to schedule various boob tests and they asked over the phone if I was vaccinated. But they didn't take my temperature at the hospital. Although people at the front desk that were there to see hospitalized patients were asked for proof of vaccine. But Pennsylvania is pretty cucked over this because of Tom Wolf. Some things may be on a hospital to hospital basis. And at medical centers and doctor's offices I don't always get the space gun or the wrist thermometer.

I have no idea what the standards are. It's so inconsistent.

PA has 84% with at least one dose. Deaths are at an all-time high.

I just read this on the 6 ABC site just now. I had thought it was already in place here. But I don't dine indoors. I usually get something to go. It won't affect convenience stores or grocery stores. So I assume you can still sit in the dining area at larger supermarkets and eat your deli food or your Starbucks.

"Any place that sells food or drink to be consumed on-site will have to require that everyone who enters be fully vaccinated against COVID-19," she said.

I'm confused about this. If you go to a place that has seating/to go options and are not vaccinated can you still get the food to go? Seems ludicrous if you can't. They'll probably tell you to use Door Dash or store pickup.

Philly has a high population density and majority black with a lot of high poverty areas. So these restrictions are going to be seen as racist and classist. But some places in nastier areas already pulled their seating pre-pandemic to stop bums from hanging out and harassing customers/begging for freebies from staff. Our Dunkin Donuts hasn't had seats in it since 2019.

By the way it doesn't work. The bums will just stand or sit on a ledge.

The only response is to lock the door for awhile until they move on somewhere else. So I hardly go anymore. The damn store is always temporarily closed. They must be losing money like crazy at peak hours.

Anyway, this will be harsh on smaller businesses. Especially in lower income areas. People here are struggling enough as is. The food insecurity and homelessness is really bad.

I never thought it would turn into this sort of dystopia. It's not Satanic in any way. But we made the mark of the beast a sort of reality through crazy restrictions when so far no one is dying from Omicron. Eventually it's going to burn out and turn into nothing more than a seasonal illness like the flu. But they do not want to give up control.

Two weeks to flatten the curve.

At this point just nuke Philly from orbit. We're practically irl Racoon City anyway. We got the Kensington drug zombies shambling around. We've got trash dumped everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Seas of broken glass. Everything's graffiti'd. So why make it worse? How about we focus on the fact that as of this post we are up to 528 homicides. But please wear two masks when you want to eat indoors. Please. I'm far more likely to get hit by a stray bullet when I'm going out to buy eggs.

Interesting article, and some optimistic reasoning:

the south has been open and going to 100,000 fan football games. the kids are in school unmuzzled and un-terrorized. it’s making zero difference for covid. their seasonal surge waned anyhow. we’re all going to owe them a massive debt of gratitude when this is over. they stood up. they led. they held the line on freedom from bio-tyranny.

without their control group, the US might well look like germany.

the northeast is now vaxxed to the gills and exploding into covid season. none of this is making any difference, the vaccines are not making a difference, masks never worked, and neither did lockdowns.

and more and more people see it.

the data is too big to hide anymore, the experience too prevalent.

trying to use children as human shields by giving them a jab against a disease that poses them near zero risk and of which they are not spreaders despite that vaccine having massively negative net expected value for the kids themselves has woken up the momma bears.

they do not want their kids injected, masked, and traumatized any more.

you do not win against that demographic. ever.

frankly, you should never even want to.

when the normally quiescent parents of your nation are sufficiently stirred to take time off from their lives and families rise against against you, you’ve really stepped over the line.

the courts are starting to do their jobs, public sentiment has shifted and will keep doing so, and a year from now, you’ll struggle to find anyone who admits to having been for all this.

(and if you doubt this, think back to iraq. nearly every dem in congress was pro-invasion. try finding one who admits it now. same with your neighbors. everyone changes jerseys and pretends they were on the winning team all along.)

now is the time to push back. hard. they have overstretched and overplayed their hands. their stories are strained, implausible, and fall apart faster than they can set them up. their half life is barely even one media cycle.

An other article from the Epoch Times, I don't know if we could trust more than the NY "Slime" or the "Washington Compost" but they mentionned then some large hospitals systems drop va mandates. Remember we won only the first round.
Compliance with vaccine mandates is dropping.

Some large US Hospital Sytems have dropped their vaccine mandates hoping to deal with shortages.

From The Wall Street Journal:

Some of the largest U.S. hospital systems have dropped Covid-19 vaccine mandates for staff after a federal judge temporarily halted a Biden administration mandate that healthcare workers get the shots.
Hospital operators including HCA Healthcare Inc. HCA +0.57% and Tenet Healthcare Corp. THC +0.09% as well as nonprofits AdventHealth and the Cleveland Clinic are dropping the mandates. Labor costs in the industry have soared, and hospitals struggled to retain enough nurses, technicians and even janitors to handle higher hospitalizations in recent months as the Delta variant raged. Vaccine mandates have been a factor constraining the supply of healthcare workers, according to hospital executives, public-health authorities and nursing groups.
Many hospitals already struggled to find workers, including nurses, before the pandemic. The shortages were compounded by burnout among many medical workers and the lure of high pay rates offered to nurses who travel to hot spots on short-term contracts.
More recently, thousands of nurses have left the industry or lost their jobs rather than get vaccinated. As of September, 30% of workers at more than 2,000 hospitals across the country surveyed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were unvaccinated.
“It’s been a mass exodus, and a lot of people in the healthcare industry are willing to go and shop around,” said Wade Symons, an employee-benefits lawyer and head of consulting firm Mercer’s U.S. regulatory practice. “If you get certain healthcare facilities that don’t require it, those could be a magnet for those people who don’t want the vaccine. They’ll probably have an easier time attracting labor.”
Four States have already had to call in the National Guard:

I am sure it is still harmfull, maybe less than the MRNA quacksines but still bad for you.
A lot of stuff is harmful, there's already microplastic on our food. I just haven't heard as many short or long term side effects from Sinopharm than from Pfizer, AstraZeneca or J&J. However it is still pretty fucked up that unvaccinated have to be vaccinated to not fuck the vaccinated ones.

Now is the time to be getting good and knee bound with the big fella. I mean that as an ex Mo with a complicated relationship with God.

Praying and getting right with him and listening to that still small voice ain't a bad idea the now.

In the UK they are using hotels to make up for lack of hospital space, the same they did in March 2020 and in some places in January 2021, during two bad peaks of Covid.

This time, however, the cause so far is lack of personnel for at-home care.

On Monday, NHS Providers said bed occupancy in hospitals was at 94%–96%, and its chief executive, Chris Hopson, said on Sunday that the shortage of social care staff was a big driver of delayed discharges, with more than 10,000 beds last week occupied by medically fit patients.

Lack of funds for the NHS are being blamed, but apparently they are unable to find enough staff from the UK anyways, so they have to import British nationals from abroad, and in the meantime convert the hotel rooms. They don't mention why they can't find enough staff, though.

Also I said "so far", because another reason why they're starting to use hotel rooms again is in anticipation of the Omicron wave.

Now, with similar warnings that the NHS faces being overwhelmed by the Omicron variant, Abicare said it has converted whole floors of hotels, and has recruited British nationals living in Greece and Spain, as well as some from the north of England, to staff them in a shift pattern of three weeks on and three weeks off.

I was surprised to read about hospital issues without any mention of the unvaccinated being to blame, or any mention of the vaccine at all, for that matter. I'm not in the UK, but where I'm from, what I'm hearing from some anti-vaxxers is this: the hospitals being so overwhelmed is the *pikachu face* result of them being run on thin margins and speculation over the past decade or two.

That's a pretty taboo topic these days, though, since any criticism of the health system is interpreted as an act of disrespect towards the burned-out ICU staff, and as a cowardly excuse for covering up one's selfishness of not wanting to get vaccinated. And I mostly just keep my mouth shut anyways because I'm too ignorant about how my country's health system works to be able to even get into the discussion myself, so I just stay stupid and everyone else stays angry and that's how it goes.

Pharmakeia means either magic or medicine.
