Maker's Mark is okay and it isn't really the fault of the bourbon that it is associated with the Gunt. Personally I'd prefer a milder bourbon for this kind of thing, like Bulleit. I'm sure it turned out fine though.

I actually don't think it's that bad, but as far as its price range and availability go I'd also prefer Bulleit.

Good stuff. Although adding the bourbon directly to the beer isn't something I would have done but the end result looked good.

That and using Maker's Mark were probably my disagreements, but the result looked fine. I'm probably irrationally bigoted against Maker's Mark just because of its connection to the Gunt, though.

For a mass market bourbon it's fine and it's possibly one of the best when making an Old Fashioned. But it depends what you're looking for in your bourbon. If you're looking for a nice sipping bourbon I'd go for Jefferson's Ocean. That's literally aged at sea as their selling point. The bourbon crosses the equator four times which adds to the price. If you're looking for a budget bourbon something like Evan Williams is good. But in the end it's what Rob likes so I'm not going to argue with the man on that.

Buddy of mine had a get together a couple months back, basically bunch of guys sitting in the backyard drinking bourbon, smoking cigars and shooting the shit. We had Jim Beam Black which was pretty good. Well that's the only one I really remember because it's what I wound up drinking the most of that night.
