Perhaps it would be best to gather your thoughts and summarize what you want to say in a few concise bullet points. Don't apologize for something if you're going to do it all over again in another post. Making long posts in and itself isn't bad, but if you acknowledge that your posts come off as rant-y and overly long for the points you actually want to make, it's more productive to go back and revise them instead of posting a "sorry, not sorry" at the end.Why do I keep making these long-ass replies, I need to stop.
Thanks for understanding. And if you have things to ask about the forums or the discussion culture here, make use of the Feedback and Forums Discussion forums or ask staff directly, we're more than happy to helpThat's a fair point, I'll go back and edit it in a little bit

Sorry if it's already been stated/answered in here (I didn't see it if it was) but what happens when you have multiple persons claiming to be kin with a particular person and insist they are the one who is truly said character?
I'm asking because our resident Stray Sheep has decided she is kin with Sans from Undertale, and she recently had a mild meltdown over feeling that such an identity was being invalidated and how she's super uncomfortable with other people claiming to be Sans.
Wow, that's um, very..... attention whore-y lol. Talk about stirring up drama just bc "omg ppl feel teh saem things as me im so triggered rn"Sorry if it's already been stated/answered in here (I didn't see it if it was) but what happens when you have multiple persons claiming to be kin with a particular person and insist they are the one who is truly said character?

I posted these in the Stray Sheep thread but I'll toss them in here too to show how she's fussing over it.

Jfc, man :////
A lot of tumblr fictionkin have caveats on theirs blog that include "Don't follow me of you're kin with this character", among many other exceptional things.
Sometimes they get along though. I remember back on LJ, there was a pretty hilarious convo that got featured on sf_d where several fictionkins (they called thelselves otakukin back then) discussed the traits and personality quirks of their respective Sephiroths.

I find it interesting yet borderline pitiable that people would go to such lengths over a fictional character they would never have identified with if the creator had never, well, created them.
And how does that exactly work? Sephiroth has his own personality and various traits. Do people really start contorting them to better fit how they want to perceive them? Does that defeat the purpose of being "kin" with someone/thing? You might as well create your own knock-off who fits the bill so you don't misrepresent the character if you actually care about that sort of thing.
You got it exactly.
Fictionkin are really just people who like/identify with a character on an extreme level and twist their personality to match their own or how they see the character. If they like Seph/Cloud, they use 'canon clues' and 'memories' to justify that Sephiroth is really truly gay for Cloud and if you dispute that or, godbear forbid, canon disputes that then they will claim to be from an 'alternate reality' where it's canon so you cannot invalidate them.
Really, they're just kids wearing a paper mask of their favorite character and playing an elaborate game of pretend.
It's really disturbing how some people legitimately believe they are the character they're fictionkin with. Like, they claim to literally have memories. I dunno if they're just making that shit up or if they're seriously that delusional???but like, man- if someone they knew irl caught wind of this, well.... either ostracization or a LOT of mental health screening/therapy...................................... or both :/
You know things are bad when a dog wearing a tutu thinks you're crazy.Pretty sure some of them are legitimately delusional and severely mentally ill but the majority are just kids who think it's cool to have a dx and want to play pretend.
NoQuestion is, are we all technically otherkin?
That edge, tho. (The "underworld" crap. Sorry, but wolves live on the planet, not some weird magic dimension below the ground that has zero tangible evidence supporting it and much evidence saying it is just hot rock under there.)
