TGWTG The Spoony One / Spoony / Noah Antwiler and Rachel Baker / @RaeAngel07 - The touching romance between a washed-up videogame reviewer throwing a decade-long pity party and his delusional Canuck stalker. #weaknotsick #donttellmehowtosulk

She's a stalker, I'm certain of it. The only reason she hasn't shown up at his doorstep or straight up tried to kidnap him is because he's so far away and she is incapable of getting out of bed without blowing out a hip.
She is, and she fits into multiple categories of stalker. Spoony is just lucky she hasn't sent him letters filled with anthrax, before filming her own suicide.

Dang, wouldn't this type of use of a (at least on twitter) racist term, even if describing someone else, usually get you suspended at least on there?

That's 2 days in a row he's doing stuff that might make the left boil.

I love how he makes absolutely sure to say that Lovecraft's writing was objectively bad, because we all know that the morally indigent can never do anything that any pure and righteous person would ever consider "good".

I love how Noah tries to come off as an intellectual when in reality, he's just an arrogant retard that let his only scholastic achievement expire two decades ago.
Speaking of Lovecraft:

I'm sorry Ms. Baker but the truth is that majority of men would rather die than have sex with a fat woman.
Fat women still look like women. Not dimes, but not gremlins.

Warty looks like a wax figure of Anne Ramsay.

Jesus, where to begin here?

1. Lovecraft's work wasn't that good, Noah? Really? Is that why many future famous authors wrote to him, he responded, often mentored them, and they went on to cite his influence directly on their success as authors? Robert Bloch and Fritz Lieber perhaps most notably, to say nothing of Lovecraft's contemporaries already working alongside him at Weird Tales?

2. Terrible racist asshole? Racist yes, even for his time. So what, hes not a politician or anyones employer. Asshole? Objectively not. By all accounts his friends, which he had many despite popular misconception, mostly thought he was extremely generous and unselfish, ghost writing many works for people he knew and taking people on custom walking tours of places he knew throughout eastern North America.

3. HPL wouldnt have denied being racist. His fear of the other is literally acknowledged in his own letters to friends, including in the sense of like 'sometimes I have to chill my dick about it but whatever nigga stole my bike.' As Houllebecq said, its part of what made his writing good.

4. Noah Antwiler, as a faded cultural critic who once trafficked in a form of humor now seen by most as far more dated than the 30s pulps despite having occurred far more recently, is the last person who should throw around [Current Year] standards like a John Oliver monologue with more depression. The present era's normie zeitgeist is obsessed with how 'poorly things date', which is ironic because this entire era and its hysterical Reagan Era PTA Mom Meets Tumblr Social Justice affect is going to be the most poorly dating period of cultural criticism in human history at least since religious puritanism. If something remains, or in the case of Lovecraft, grows in popularity long after its creation, it is usually the sign of it transcending its era. Twitter activism and demanding everything sit present ephemeral social standards, on the other hand, is totally incapable of leaving its era by definition. It will only be remembered as the but of jokes in the future as a way to make fun of the past. Like how Tipper Gore and Jack Thompson are seen today. That and the fact that it will have no staying power because everything popular is made by algorithm and committee to sell big in brief bursts and then be forgotten about/remade immediately.

Also, funny how he's using an antidepressant off-label for his headaches. Curious how he managed to get his hands on a prescription for that.
Amitriptyline is prescribed off-label for migraines. Lots of psych meds are prescribed off-label like that. Schizo meds are commonly prescribed for sleep disturbances in patients without schizophrenia, for example. Don't take schizo meds for a good night's sleep, people.

SSRI are prescribed for premature ejaculation IIRC.

The only thing worse than his representation of Lovecraft is his smearjob against Robert E. Howard.

One of the few authors of the pulp era to have black characters, and more than that, black heroes. Who was, despite being from the Segregationist South, more open-minded about other races and peoples than many of his more progressive contemporaries.

Hell, his most famous creation is a dark skinned dark haired tribal man who routinely outwits and outperforms his pale skinned counterparts.

There's a reason why Conan was for decades the most popular fantasy figure among black authors, and why early black fantasy authors, especially the "Sword and Soul" movement, were riffs on Howard and Conan, rather than the various riffs on Tolkien more common among white authors. Hell, Conan's most famous black fan was even President of the United States.

You want to know how lazy and unactual claims Howard was a racists are? There were several attempts around 2010 to run articles painting him as a bigot. His estate sued and had each article successfully retracted on grounds of libel - something damn near impossible to do.

I love how he makes absolutely sure to say that Lovecraft's writing was objectively bad, because we all know that the morally indigent can never do anything that any pure and righteous person would ever consider "good".
He's mad that Lovecraft still makes money despite being dead for a century while his videos stopped earning free income years ago.

Robert E Howard is still more relevant to literature, the fantasy genre and pop culture in general, than Sponny ever was and will be.
That is also taking into consideration that Howard died when he was 30 year old. We only saw a fraction of his potential.
Sponny on the other hand, is a lady fuck who got lucky with his videos ( most of which has not aged very well when it comes to quality) and is mostly forgotten apart from trolls on 4chan and us.

Hm, "miserable terrible asshole", whose work "wasn't really that good", but "inspired far greater things of their own", you say?

I think Spoony's done it. He's become more loathsome than MovieBob. Not that that's a high bar to clear, but I'll give MovieBob this: he produces content that his fans want and makes enough money to support himself (just). All Spoony has done is bitch on Twitter like a 15 year old girl complaining about the color of the luxury car her parents gave her for her birthday. And now, to hear Spoony insulting legitimately great authors (because he knows that doing so will appeal to the Woke Brigade,) makes my blood boil. Spoony isn't worthy enough to scoop the turds out of Lovecraft's cat's litterbox. Lovecraft and Howard do more to help authors while dead (by sheer force of their respective legacies) than Spoony has ever done while alive.

Warthog is too good for him. Yes. I mean that. A workshy alcoholic who can't even do a load of laundry without grievously injuring herself is way out of Spoony's league. He doesn't deserve her. What he does deserve is Lucas Werner in a wig chaining him up in a basement and loving him.....his way.

sorry if someones already asked this or whatever but do you guys think there is ANY chance spoony might redeem himself, ever??? I mean like, people have gotten out of slumps before. What do you think he will need to do? My idea is he needs to disassociate from all social media, stop trying to be a "public figure" or "influencer" and just do shit that he finds fun like play video games and rant about them or whatever. Maybe limit himself to a small clique or group, not based on popularity or subcount, just some friends that like to dick around together and make funny content.
Slump? He's been in this "slump" for 7 years. There will never be a redemption arc for spoony. What Noah can do is throw away his online spoony bullshit, go get a job at a local walmart, and start his life over.

Will he do that? Doubtful. He's too much of a narcissist for that. His ego won't allow it. At no point over the years has he just flat out admitted to being a failure. His little twitter tantrums don't count. He's never accepted help from friends because that would be admitting he failed.

One last thing to note about Lovecraft's racism was that it was a really fucking weird, obsessive kind of racism that was born out of his rough, incredibly isolated, and sheltered upbringing, probable genuine mental illness, and like others have stated, a genuine fear of the unknown.

Lovecraft grew up in a family full of loonies (his father was committed to an asylum, and later died of syphilis, and his mother would later go onto to be committed to and die in the exact same one when he was an adult for reasons that are still unclear) who still considered themselves proper, well-bred, white, English elites, and that anyone who wasn't that was at best a second-class citizen, and at worst, a subhuman degenerate that was to be avoided at all costs.

He was already kind of cuckoo from the moment he was born, and would've probably always been a bit of weirdo, but had he been raised in a more stable environment that held less racist views, and actually let him socialize with the outside world, he probably wouldn't have turned out nearly racist, and delusional as he eventually did.

A fact that was proven true as when he was forced to actually do so, his vehement, and frankly, somewhat schizo beliefs about race, and ethnicity, calmed down considerably.

In other words, he was an A&N poster who managed to actually make something of value to the world.

Spoony turned classical art snarky critic.

BTW, his tweeting amount is as bad as ever. Really miserable garbage too., difficult for me to even view it at this point.
It's...such dated internet humor. That's all I have to say, he's stuck in the past.

The thing that amazes me about his Twitter ramblings is that if he took half that energy and put it into even something as easy as livestreams, he'd be...um...in a better position than he is in now.

Not necessarily a GOOD position by most standards and certainly not where he once was, but him tweeting all this nonsense and not doing even a stream of conciousness livestreams is him leaving some money on the table.

He's not even getting any traction at all with this crap. He used to get 30-50 replies per random tweet, now he's getting 0-10. He has to notice this, but doubt he'll learn anything from it. I really think if he'd even try to livestream he'd get a lot of views, mostly from trolls. After a few months he'd end up in Marzgurl territory.

ETA. OH NO!

Spoony has adopted a stray dog which he's named "Thaco" after AD&D 2E. May God have mercy on its soul. The second photo shows his messy living arrangements, which at a glance looks pretty similar to Miles' house. Since Twitter auto-strips EXIF data (like Imgur) no dice on a location see below.

E: Spoony is absolutely living with Miles. Compare the above photo to this shot of his living room from the end of VCR Golf:

  • Same carpet
  • Same door (looks like that bottom window/doggy door was covered at some point),
  • Same small white shelf holding books and games
  • Possibly same standing lamp in the corner
  • Similar couch
  • All arranged similarly

Spoony is a better entertainer than writer. His material relies on him being funny on camera and these days he can't even muster up fake enthusiasm. He'd probably just mope became he'd feel like he was being "forced" to do it by his remaining supporters and want to spite them.
