I go back and forth on this although I'm definitely not convinced one way or the other. A quick look at his life history shows that Steven will cut whatever corners he can whenever he's able to regardless of whether that's attempts at growing his channel, "trying" to be healthy, earning income, pursuing relationships, winning retarded arguments, etc. It makes sense that this logic naturally follows to him exploiting whatever tax loopholes may be available to him so he can keep even more of the money he fleeces from his dumb fans. That's not even up for debate considering he's said so much himself and even went viral on /r/LivestreamFails for it.

I'm just so jaded on the fat man that I'm now almost convinced he's too lazy to even cheat on his taxes in ways that matter all that much. I think there's no doubt something shady about the travel channel and how he goes about filing the relevant expenses that go along with it but the Magic card thing isn't as clear to me. A part of me thinks the clips that went viral where he exposed himself for cheating on taxes and evading the IRS were in reality just another example of him trying to look "cool" and capable, even if what he was talking about was making a few extra bucks on Magic cards of all things. Admittedly I've never been into tabletop games, board games, or card games like MTG so I'm definitely naïve on the subject though.

He was trying to pass off the idea that he was actually banking on this lucrative grift by buying the cards at cost and them flipping then individually for rates that pull in significant profit. We know that when he says "I invested into LGBT safe spaces" what he really means is he agreed to a deal with his local gaming store owner where Steven loans them a small sum up front and in return he gets that figure returned to him in the form of MTG cards sold to him at-cost that the store pays for them from the manufacturer. What trips me up however is where exactly he's supposedly turning a profit on all of this. We've seen a number of videos where Boogie shows off literally 14+ massive boxes of his MTG card collection that have been collecting dust and sitting idly by in his garage for years now.

I guess he could be running an anonymous Ebay page where he sells them or consistently lists them individually on Craigslist or whatever but we've never heard him really mention anything like that. Additionally the time, energy, and effort required to sustain such an operation just feels next level impossible for him to be capable of outside of selling a couple cards here and there on rare occasions. Maintaining a setup like that would mean actually maintaining his own online store, making routine trips to the post office to ship them out, preparing the shipments, communicating with buyers, etc. It also would make so much for sense for him to attach such an operation to his own brand where he already has a massive following of people who have a high overlap with MTG enthusiasts (or at least it would have used to make sense). Maybe that would bring too much heat though and that wouldn't make sense, like I said I'm clueless about the entire space in general. Then again, Boogie is so retarded that he'd likely not even take said heat into consideration. I go back and forth on this like I mentioned earlier.

What's crazy to me is just how much he spends on these cards. It feels to me like a real addiction for him imo that he just skips over either because he feels shame spending all his fan's money on cardboard collecting dust or because it's just become so normalized to him and he needs the dopamine from "cracking packs". If you ever tune into those streams it's not at all uncommon to see him open at least a few different boxes with $200+ price tags on them. I've seen some in particular that were $349 and I barely ever decide to check out his streams. The most insane part about all of this is something he shared in a video from a house tour around a year ago. It's important to note that he kept alluding to and hyping up his single most prized possession and made it out to be this big deal that will blow his fan's minds. Eventually he got around to it and it was just him showing off a single MTG card that he had framed and claimed to have been worth $1,400. I couldn't believe it. He opens boxes worth more than that on just 3 different streams. He's supposedly been playing the game and collecting these cards in massive numbers for decades now and the single most valuable card that he said set itself a part from all of the tens of thousands of others was only worth...$1.400 - really? Like I said I have no idea what I'm talking about here so take this whole post with a massive grain of salt. It's just always felt like such a ridiculous money sink to me and has made me question where exactly he's supposedly turning a profit from all of this.

Well, $200-$300 is usual to spend if you are buying boxes. When I was into Pokemon TCG and Magic TCG these prices were the normal for boxes with 24-36 packs with each pack containing 11 cards (I think). The only difference in prices I saw was in Dinosaur King TCG and Legend of the Five Rings TCG both which were niche and not widely popular which ran from $50-$80 dollars.

I would only state that we don't know how many of those $1,400 cards he has. If he opens boxes regularly, and has good odds, I will guess that the one he framed would have been one out of the many. If he opens newer packs then their prices rise automatically as they go on and continue to rise even if they are taken out of rotation. So that $200-$300 box would have paid for itself a number of times over depending on what he gets. Prices rise dramatically depending on their usage in play and/or if they are special. The recent Godzilla type/Kaiju type packs from MtG were a huge hit with some going over $100 and more. It is very possible he is sitting on at least $200,000 to $300,000 worth of product. Again, I do not know if he is opening old boxes or newer sets. If he has been collecting for ages, it is possible he has some really rare stuff like from Arabian Nights and such.
