People have also found a Elden Ring symbol on the in game moon and some of the item descriptions are very Bloodborne like.

I don't think that theory has weight to it. Miyazaki did an interview about ER (https://archive.md/BsqRX) and talked about the lore. I think the explanation is too in depth to have a twist where you are actually in a mech sci-fi setting. The intent seems to be for the player to feel like they are in an "Ethereal" land between, and all the fractures and silly moon symbols are appropriate (I think.)
 
So the game has apparently been datamined which is interesting but there is also now some gay Discord drama going on. Why do attention whores have to ruin everything?

Lance McDonald and other FromSoft cocksuckers are going into full damage-control mode to preserve their reputation with From and Bamco. They're basically spreading misinformation that the datamining has only resulted in some models already available in the network test, and any story leaks are simply fanfiction. This obvious lie quickly fell apart when independent dataminers started throwing actual voice clips onto Vocaroo reaffirming the leaks.

Checked /v/ this morning for the leaks, theres literal thousands of voice lines leaked, its basically the games entire plot

Ok there are spoilers who are gonna be leaked, but I've played and plat all Dark Souls game and also Bloodborne and... I have no fucking idea what the story was in any of those games. I'm not even sure there's a story going on and it's not just people fucking around and making shit up online when they talk about the lore and shit.

Is anyone really gonna stop themselves from buying Elden Ring because they are spoiled on the story? People like me don't give a shit and will play as long as it's fucking brutal and I get to murder huge big titted women and other assorted deformed monsters, and people who care about the lore and shit are cucks who will pay for multiple editions of the game anyway.



So yeah I don't get why this is a story at all. This is like the script of a movie being leaked before the movie comes out. Yeah, if it happens to The Usual Suspects or The Sixth Sense, I get it, but if it happens to Sorority Massacres 4: Deadly Tan or Fast and Furious 12, wgas?

There's no real story in these games, you kill a bunch of things and there's vague hints at lore but who knows what the fuck is actually going on.

Not complaining, it's part of what makes these games unique, you're just thrown into these strange worlds, you always feel like an outsider, I like stuff like the random dead body of a priestess looking woman in a cave in Sekiro, who is she? Why is she there? Who knows man, but it's neat that it has that attention to detail.

Or when you find the "praise the sun" knight guy in Dark Souls and he's... sad about something, aww...

Essentially you're encouraged to use your imagination and there's nothing wrong with that.

I can't possibly imagine what kind of retard plays Dark Souls purely for the gameplay.
 
We must have a very different definition of gameplay because otherwise nigga youre the most autistic person ive ever met
 
Fromsoft have been pretty honest about how they just throw vague sounding shit that is just cohesive enough to seem like it all makes some sense or means something. Bloodborne is probably the beat example of this. I don't think this is a bad thing but I would like a game with a more straight forward story. Maybe having a real writer will help.

Is this bait? I never knew or cared about any of the dark souls stories till I binged on some lore videos, and that was only after I completed all 3 of them. It's cool that lore masters put together all of the information, but I didn't play the souls games so I could be a youtube detective, analyzing healing item descriptions that reference in-lore-but-not-in-game characters for shrapnel of information. I came to use cool weapons while wearing cool armor to fight awesome bosses with a super solid combat system in incredibly well designed worlds with an awesome dark aesthetic. If you think half of Dark Souls fans could even tell you the story beyond "you're the chosen undead who is trying to end the world / rekindle the flame" you're wrong.

Don't get me wrong - once you dive in, DS lore is pretty sweet and it's crazy how well connected yet isolated the fragments of lore are in the series. Understanding the lore and world in turn makes the game even better, for sure, but most players got into the game for the gameplay and stopped there.
