I tentatively agree with this, mostly because we don’t know with certainty what trajectory the party will take once the members of the old guard finally kick the bucket. The speculation is that when they do, the progs will fill the vacuum, but will TPTB really allow that? Lyndon Baines Johnson pandered to those he referred to as “niggers” for political expediency and votes, but even he knew that a delicate balance had to be maintained. i.e.: They still needed to be suppressed because if they got too powerful/uppity, it would’ve been a detriment to the party’s political fortunes at the time. IOW, progs are the new niggers that the dems keep around for political expediency/votes, but they can’t afford for them to get too powerful/uppity. Maybe TPTB would see the long-term damage potential in a progressive takeover and quash it.

One thing I am sure of is that nominating AOC would be passing the point of no return. They would officially be the Communist Party® from thereon with no way to escape that forever designation. The obvious tactic for the right in this situation is to sabotage the infrastructure that the cities depend on. If they lose power and can't get enough food, the cities will explode into chaos and blue armed forces will have their hands full preventing total collapse. Any civil war scenario will involve utility and supply line breakdowns, and this will be painful for everyone involved but people who live close to farms will handle it much better than people in dense cities. In a divorce situation the blue leaders would have too much to lose to try any kind of invasion.
