Tom's that unique kind of garbage person because he's naive enough to think his mother had any influence on his siblings. They're adults that can make their own decisions and choosing to avoid him is what they went with. If anything it was his mother that was the final breath of reconciliation; Tom won't concede and act like a man unless they validate all of his bullshit....so yeah, why does he deserve anything other than scorn?

I know this is an overused buzzword, but Tom claiming to be tribal and getting the guidance of "the ancestors" is the most white person cultural appropriation thing ever. Jews don't worship their ancestors, Tom, there's quite a few texts out there that lay out pretty specifically exactly what entity the people of Israel owe their worship to.

One of Tom’s many flaws is that he just doesn’t get compromise, or where he actually stands in negotiations. He steams into every negotiation working on the basis that 1) He can get everything he wants, 2) he doesn’t have to do anything himself, 3) there is no step 3.
His family have no reason to put up with him. He can’t even offer them love. He’s just their useless old faggot of a brother who only shows up when he wants something. He will never see any member of his family again.

Like a lot of narcissists masking their bullshit with the rhetoric of social justice, Tom defines every relationship by specifically what it can bring him. Not to get all sappy, but I know a few gay people who, despite not the best treatment by their families, still stepped in to take care of parents when illness or old age took its toll. This idea that you turn off love and responsibility because the family won't meet all your demands is sick. What Tom wants isn't love, it's power and dominance over perceived enemies, which obviously includes his family in his eyes.
I also don't believe his abuse stories at all. It's all more special snowflake bullshit. Reminds me of Chris Chan stories actually.
