A question for everyone: Do you think Greer knows that Heidi got married since the last time he auditioned for AGT? She has a daughter who will be 18 pretty soon. Heidi could still pull some strings as his mother-in-law!
A question for the legal Kiwis:
Is the court obligated to wait until Fremantle responds before taking action on Greer's emergency motion for preliminary injunction? Would they also have to wait for Greer's opposition to Fremantle's response, and Fremantle's response to Greer's opposition? (I don't know if that's how this usually goes. I'm basing this on the back and forth with Skordas' motion to dismiss on the Kiwi Farms suit.)
I'm asking because if I do a little back of the envelope math, this is cutting it pretty close.
According to
Sofia Vergara's instagram, AGT taping last year began on 3/28. If we assume the schedule is the same this year, I think we can also assume that the cast must be finalized by early March.
Looking at this from Greer's perspective, he expects everything will go his way and the court will an issue an order forcing Fremantle to put him on the show. But if Fremantle waits until early January to file their motion to dismiss, that's a little over two months for Greer to oppose, Fremantle to respond again, and then the court to respond and issue the emergency order. And that will leave Greer precious little time to assemble the Accommodations*, rehearse them to his exacting standards, and prepare a performance worthy of his national debut on network tv. He must be quite anxious about it, fearing the court will issue the order two days before taping, leaving him no time to prepare. I would not be surprised to see him cook up some other kind of motion to try to get the court to hurry up. They don't seem to understand he's on a deadline!
* I have my doubts about whether Russell actually had a conversation with The Accommodations where they said "Yes, if you get a court order, we will agree to rehearse with you for free, perform with you for free, cancel any paid gigs that conflict with the AGT schedule, sign Fremantle's restrictive contract prohibiting us from telling anyone we're going on AGT, and stand way behind you onstage, dressed in black from head-to-toe, where we will not be introduced or acknowledged, and likely get zero camera time before we are buzzed off, all so YOU can win the money and a Vegas show. And all so everyone at AGT that we could possibly network with, knows we are with the guy who got on the show by suing the production company." After all, you can't buy that kind of exposure, right?
