I think it's mostly to be contrarian but Dick in particular has a gripe with people on the right wing who identify as trad. It's definitely because he isn't necessarily conservative he's just libertarian. He doesn't want kids, thinks porn, drugs and casual sex are great. He doesn't care about many of the issues that trad people care about.
