This whole opening is way different than I remember. That's a looooooot of unnecessary dialog for characters who are only there to get spooked to death.

There was a fan game called Abe Oni which is a parody of the Yaranaika guy. Instead of the violin screeches, you get a upbeat rock track while being chased by a gay guy in a blue jumpsuit. Even though it's a comedy, it can be just as scary because the monster comes after you when you let your guard down. It's not so much their appearance, but the fact that they chase you while that violin sting plays. They could've looked like anything and it would've been anxiety-inducing.
I am a huge sperg for these top-down Indie horror games and for the most part, the visuals are not the scariest element. That's what makes them unique. Someday, I'd like to acquire the talent to make one myself.
This is 1.1, later versions started to cut the unnecessary characters, and add other stuff. This whole opening is way different than I remember. That's a looooooot of unnecessary dialog for characters who are only there to get spooked to death.
Not just once, but fucking twice if you get the bad end game over.I'd like a moment of appreciation that home boy will sit there with a rope in his mouth wagging it around like a fucking dog.
I wouldn't call this a completion sake LP, after all I am skipping the two demo versions. If you're doing this for completion's sake, i think it's only fair to do both versions the way you said (preferring the 2021 version, imo.)
Pretty sure it doesn't make a door opening sound like it does when you hide in a closet(It make the sound twice, one when he enters the room, and one when he leaves). So he straight up did use the textbox to do this.Hiding behind the text box is just such a galaxy brain move.
If you take it just as it appears, it's just a good jumpscare.
If you consider the practical reality, he just entered as Takeshi was freaking out and everyone was looking at him.
If you think he seriously was hiding behind the text box, it's a very subtle suggestion that he has fourth wall or reality warping powers. And considering later versions where he impersonates party members, it's not impossible.
