I think it could go both ways.I like to think that the based lesbian knew exactly what a “terf” was and wanted to see how far this entitled loser would go in demanding that she alter her wardrobe/appearance.
I had to Google the meaning of lipstick lesbian (for those like me who don’t know- it basically means a very feminine presenting lesbian). After learning what it means, and considering what the op described her wearing- I gotta give her kudos. She obviously identifies with the flag pin on her jacket. Must have taken an incredible amount of patience to refrain from cussing that guy out. She gets double points for the subtle trolling.
I still can’t believe that it’s 2021 and mfrs are really out here telling people what they should do with/how they should define their sexuality. Literally nobody who’s getting laid regularly would have the audacity to try to police another adults sex life. Beyond that, sex and dating are exclusionary by nature. It’s so wild to me that women are being shamed for not being inclusive enough in their bedrooms.
As a group we’ve fought over the years to not be sold as sexual property, to not be married off at 12, to have the right to bodily autonomy. I can’t even believe that we still don’t have full rights over our own bodies (abortion etc) and yet now we’re being forced to consider and include men in our spaces and activism. That incel-tranny pipeline is really real huh.
On the one hand, this is absolutely the best way to handle a call out - instead of reacting defensively to justify yourself or reacting angrily and doubling down, just to sort of act with vague disinterest. Histrionic/borderline types want attention and a dramatic confrontation, so if you "grey rock" them then they get bored and leave you alone - which is exactly what happened here, OP gave up and wandered off.
On the other hand, not everyone is really up on the lingo and buzzwords, especially non-anglos. This could be a genuine case of a lesbian who's never encountered the term TERF and genuinely has never heard of transbians ("why would you transition if you're into women? I thought trans women were into men" is a very common starting point, along with not being aware that nonchalantly saying "trans women aren't really the same as cis women" is incredibly politically loaded in Current Year).
I'm reminded of an exchange I saw posted here a while back on a dating app which has a similar energy:
"Are you a man or a woman? I'm only into women"
"I'm trans feminine non binary"
"Ok well whatever that is I'm not into it"
