It's the "Head Start" mandate, and it requires all employees and contractors working in the Head Start educational system program, as well as DoD teachers and staff at the Bureau of Indian Affairs schools to be vaccinated by January. Under Biden’s mandate, teachers and staff at Head Start and Early Head Start programs, teachers and child and youth program personnel at the Department of Defense, and teachers and staff at Bureau of Indian Education-operated schools are required to be vaccinated by January, according to a September letter from Dr. Bernadine Futrell, director of the Office of Head Start.

“The states allege that the Head Start Mandate is not only beyond the Executive Branch’s authority, contrary to law, and arbitrary and capricious, but it also violates the APA’s Notice-and-Comment Requirement, the Congressional Review Act, the Nondelegation Doctrine, the Tenth Amendment, the Anti-Commandeering Doctrine, the Spending Clause, and the Treasury and General Government Appropriations Act of 1999,” according to the news release.

Their arguments are similar to that against the OSHA mandate.

Joining O’Connor (Oklahoma) and Landry (Louisiana) in the lawsuit are attorneys general from Louisiana, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Wyoming and West Virginia.

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Unified School District's Board of Education on Tuesday unanimously voted to appeal a decision handed down Monday in a lawsuit against the district and its vaccine mandate. Board members voted unanimously to do so in a special closed session.

San Diego Superior Court Judge John Meyer on Monday said the district's mandate, which does not permit religious or personal belief exemptions, contradicts state law, because implementing such mandates without exemptions can only be imposed by the state legislature.

Meyer also said that while students are required to receive some vaccinations in order to attend in-person school, adding COVID-19 to the list of required vaccinations without allowing personal belief exemptions is another area that lies only with the state.

Unfortunately, on the other coastline, a similar challenge against NYC's municipal employee vaccine mandate by teachers failed today. (Archive) It was a nasty one -- it was vax or pink slip, no option to test out... but only education employees had that option specifically omitted.

On July 26, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the City would require all municipal workers to receive one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by the time schools opened in mid-September 2021. The mandate allowed employees to “test out” by submitting regular negative COVID tests in lieu of vaccination, similar to the “test out” option permitted by the Federal OSHA mandate. On August 23, however, the mayor announced that Department of Education employees would not be allowed to “test out” of the vaccine, while other municipal employees still would be allowed this option.

The employees who brought the lawsuit against NYC and the Board of Education claimed that the “draconian” vaccine mandate “shocks the conscience” and violates their constitutional right to not be deprived of “liberty” without due process. More specifically, they claimed to have a right to pursue their chosen profession, and the mandate prevented them from doing so. The employees alleged the NYC mandate is particularly unfair and arbitrary because it does not include an option to “test out,” even though that option was still being offered to other workers.

Only a few weeks before school was set to start in the city, the federal court denied the employees’ request to halt the mandate requiring them to get the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccination. The court explained that, while the U.S. Constitution does provide protection for individuals to pursue a profession of their choice, it does not provide a “right to a specific job.” The court pointed out that the employees were free to seek similar jobs within their chosen profession elsewhere in the area.

The court also cited to precedent that permitted governments to mandate vaccines for all adults, not just municipal employees. It concluded that a mandate of a vaccine approved by the FDA was not an invasion of the employees’ constitutional rights.

Ron DeSantis in all likelihood would have been just as 'ineffective' as Trump if he were in the same position from Jan 2017 to Jan 2021, if not even more so. The Florida Governorship and state legislature and dealing with statewide issues is a whole different ball game than the Presidency, Congress, and dealing with nationwide issues. At this point i wait for the news when massive retirements and repatriations hit the labour market . The health sector in here is straining because they pissed off all the boomers and half of them are probably retired in Thailand .

My normie parents just told me that NZ is going to mandate a third shot four months after the second, I don't see any news about this but given that Jacinda is a cunt I imagine it's true. NZ is absolutely fucked.

I'm expected to get a shot before Jan 1st or I will lose my job, the principal of the school I work at left a voicemail on my phone yesterday asking me to upload proof.

The suspension of sales also applies to those travelling on the Singapore-Malaysia land VTL.

But eligible travellers who have earlier bought tickets will still be allowed to travel via the quarantine-free travel scheme.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced the new border measures on Wednesday. The move - the biggest setback in Singapore's attempt to reopen its borders so far - comes as the number of imported cases hit a new high since the emergence of the Omicron variant.

“Our border measures will help to buy us time to study and understand the Omicron variant, and to strengthen our defences, including enhancing our healthcare capacity and getting more people vaccinated and boosted,” the ministry said.

The authorities will also temporarily reduce VTL quotas and ticket sales for travel after Jan 20, in another move to limit exposure to imported Omicron cases.

The VTL scheme allows fully vaccinated travellers from selected countries to enter Singapore without having to serve quarantine. This facilitates quarantine-free travel to countries which have earlier opened up to Singapore.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said it will cap total ticket sales on VTL flights into Singapore at 50 per cent of the allocated quota from Jan 21.

Additional precautions will also be put in place to protect the aviation community, it added.

First, all airport workers who interact with arriving passengers, including those working in public areas such as taxi stands, will have to wear more personal protective equipment. This includes N95 masks and face shields.

Second, all front-line airport workers will minimally be placed on seven-day polymerase chain reaction (PCR) rostered routine testing, instead of the current seven-day antigen rapid test (ART) routine testing cycle.

In addition, for higher risk front-line airport workers, there will be an employer-supervised ART on the third day of their seven-day PCR testing cycle. This will also apply for Singapore air crew.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Transport Minister S. Iswaran reiterated that those who have already bought VTL flight tickets and meet VTL requirements will still be able to travel to Singapore without quarantine.

“I understand that some might be disappointed by these changes to the VTL scheme, but it is an essential and prudent measure to protect public health,” he said.

“It is crucial that we tighten our safeguards when warranted by the public health risk assessment, to protect the health and safety of our fellow Singaporeans, front-line aviation workers and travellers.”

MOH also said that travellers entering Singapore under the VTL scheme will face stricter enforcement.

All VTL travellers must test negative on their self-administered ART before going out for activities each day. The only exception is on day three and day seven of their arrival, when travellers must undergo supervised testing at a testing centre before going about their activities.

As at Monday, there were 71 confirmed Omicron cases detected in Singapore, with 65 imported cases and six local cases. The MOH has said that given Omicron's high transmissibility and spread to many parts of the world, Singapore should expect to find more Omicron cases at our borders and also within our community.

Worldwide, several countries have tightened both border and local restrictions in the face of the Omicron variant.

For example, Italy has raised its Covid-19 risk assessment of Singapore, and has thus banned tourists flying over from the Republic.
