Let's Sperg Let's look at most of the versions of Ao Oni 1 (Version 1.1-6.23)(Screen shot LP) (and maybe some fan games) - Scooby Doo Chase Simulator (V1.1, V3.0, 5.2, 6.23, R are done) Next is Class Oni , Oni Loves to eat rope ladders.

I don't have the original text in front of me and I'm too lazy to spend two minutes looking it up, but it looks like the old translator didn't quite know his way around the language. The "tsu" thing is because the character っ is often used to represent gasps or hitches in breath. He might have just used a translation program then rewrote it to look natural-ish.
The same line from (I assume) a different version of the game, judging by the improved character art. The onomotopoetia 「ガタガタ」 can be interpreted as rattling or shivering among other things, so I guess the new translator just didn't think about the context.

I am so pissed that this thread escaped my notice. I am an absolute Ao Oni sperg who seethes to this day that the series has been handled so poorly. I could write essays on why this series desperately needs an overhaul (and also why Takeshi is the best character and anybody who disagrees with me is fake and gay). Trust me - it says a lot about a series when the 3 minute long animated shorts are the best thing to come out of the franchise so far.
I also know that Megumi and Kazuya did appear in the Ao Oni light novels so they didn't completely disappear after 1.1. Just a fun fact.

There's also the Ao Oni Jr. novels and the activity book aimed at kids (the latter being for preschoolers). It's very much like FnaF is over here in the west in terms of popularity with kids.

I did up another one quickly mainly for Waifu, and that love of the famished Oni, and it's hunger for rope.
The body doesn't go away, he straight up dead.
You can push all the chairs here.
By moving this bookcase we can now open that door from this side.
We need to go in it, and then back out to reset the chairs and go down.

Version 3.0: Episode 5: Ao oni got some Big Gains.
Last time, the sound of someone masturbating furiously woke us up. Let's find out who making that loud thumping.

Also if you hide in a closet with him in the room, it's just the normal Ao Oni finding you.
This is the other safe spot(s) for chases. The tactic is simple lead him into the room on the right, and when you pop out, hope he goes out the door on the otherside. If he does just wait till you think the chase timer is over and go back in.
With the chase over, we check out dear friend mika to mour- OH HEY LOOK A ITEM.
With both metal pieces we can now use that wall indent from like update 1 or 2 lol.
I Guess this is the true attic.

So what did you all think of 3.0? I would give it a good 7-8 out of 10. It better then v1, It has puzzles, and it short but sweet.
But god damn is the oni popping out of every nook and cranny more annoying then scary.
Also I am giving it 1 extra point(hence the ( 8 ) because it kept oni eating the rope animation.
I am going to take a break before doing v5.2 .

With my little break over, Let's move onto the next version. And I hate to pretense the start of one of theses like this but. I hate this version the most on my first play through.
Version 5.2 : Third verse is also same as the first.
This version cuts out the old man from 3, so we just get the downward panning shot.
Man has this line really been in all the version so far? It's really crazy to me how many little details like this line is kept while a lot of the bigger picture stuff changed between all these versions.
Are you going to piss your pants, maybe shit and cum?
The sound of the plate we have become so fond for happens.
Did I mention how much I dislike Takeshi's portrait? The fact it has this more cartoony web comic style clashes IMO with the more realistic other portraits.
This is like 80's anime style. I like this style more.

Maybe we can stab the oni this time. Don't see why we pick up the random shard of plate otherwise.

Version 5.2 episode 2 : A real cool puzzle.
When we last left off we have our first a scripted chase of this version. Because the hiding place is blocked off, the best place to wait out the hidden timer is here.
You can run around the table till you think the timer is done then leave. You can image us doing the Mexican hat dance with a table.
After the chase we find what was blocking us from this hiding place. Good idea Hiroshi tell everyone not here you took the handkerchief.
Takeshi is spiting us. Or hiro is so fucking stupid he thinks a handkerchief takes up the whole hiding spot.
No matter which way you look at it, pretty stupid.
At this point we are just going through the motions.
The Memo a bit weird this time around, it's in one piece but only two keys are shown.
Let's check the piano.
Ahh yes Paint. Must be, can't be anything else that is red, and would stick to things.
My headcanon is it is jam. Oni was just having a nice jam sandwich while playing a soothing song, and got it all over the keys.
Back to the basics we already know.
Outside that bathroom this door open now as well.

It's dish soap, and sadly we will not use it on the broken plate as funny as that would be.

You know if the oni can just seal doors and windows off at will. WHY DOESN'T HE KEEP THEM ALL SHUT?
Sure there wouldn't be a game then, but it still a question I think about given how meta the oni is.

Anyway this door also been magically unsealed. If you remember in version 3 we met our good friend in here.

Takuro comes running up to us like we owe him 20.
You know, being chased by a giant blueberry naked man no big deal.
You can tell this game was made before twitter was a thing.
Okay seriously, They are making it too easy to make shitty references.

With that chase over let's check out more of the rooms which are not locked.
Do you think the Oni the one to decorate the rooms? We have confirmed he has magic powers, so I assume he also doing the rooms.

No idea why the hell the game asks you if you want to. You can't use it for anything else.
Now let's use the lighter.
Yes light up the paper.
Rather then burning it shows us the other keys to solving the piano puzzle.
Also make sure to use the lighter a second time to also heat up the map.
When I stumpled on this by accident my first time playing this this ran through my mind.
Like who would even think to do this, I don't think the game gives even one hint there is invisible ink on the map and memo at all. Just using the lighter just makes Hiroshi turn into a god damn firebug all of a sudden.
If there you got to go, I'm the one you need to know, I'M THE MAP I'M THE MAP.
This is a nice hint to something next update.

HOW DID SHE GET IN HERE? We just got the key, which was locked in a safe, behind a bookcase, that needed a code from a puzzle that requires you to heat up a memo, and then also wipe off a piano keys. Mind you In a room that is locked from the inside, unless you unlock the room above it push the bed, and jump down a hole.
"You could say Oh she got into the room and locked the door from the inside." Problem is even with the key we can't do that ourselfs when the oni is chasing us.
It hurts my head trying to understand (mind you pointlessly) how the hell mika got stuck in a lock room.
The only possible answer is, Oni a asshole who locked the door with his magical meta powers. Fucking oni.

Rather then burning it shows us the other keys to solving the piano puzzle.
Also make sure to use the lighter a second time to also heat up the map.
When I stumpled on this by accident my first time playing this this ran through my mind.
Like who would even think to do this, I don't think the game gives even one hint there is invisible ink on the map and memo at all. Just using the lighter just makes Hiroshi turn into a god damn firebug all of a sudden.
