Social distancing, in most places, isn’t possible. Not to mention most people don't even know what a distance of 6 feet is (hence the markers some stores/locations put in). Even those can be torn off, too.

Staying 10-20 feet away from snifflers and staying outdoors is one of the only effective physical ways to reduce the chance of catching a cold from them.
Since we live in the Upside Down, we must only obsess over openly useless prophylaxis like paper face diapers or flashing a card that says you took an injection that lasts an optimistic two weeks 9 months ago.

In my city it disappeared when the mask mandate was lifted in the summer. Then when it was reinstated a few months later, no one bothered to re-distance restaurants, etc. So now you have packed restaurants with tables crammed next to each other and no one wearing masks because the magic of sitting down prevents the spread of covid.

I think a lot of the hysteria is because the goalposts have been moved again.
First, it was "two weeks to slow the spread" and the goal was to stop hospitals from being overrun
Then, it was "Zero COVID deaths" which is impossible
Now it's "Zero COVID cases"--the goal is total eradication, like smallpox. Each new case gets the same level of media hysteria that a death did six months ago. Every time Omicron is detected in a city or county it's headline news: "OMICRON COMES TO SMITH COUNTY!" "2 CASES OF OMICRON IN RACOON CITY" "132 CASES OF OMICRON STATEWIDE!"
By ramping up the hysteria and making even a case as sobering and tragic as a death, this will continue to pave the way for public outcry for 100% vaccination of all men, women, and children above 6 months old. It will make mandatory vaccinations supported by the majority.

Because the pharmabros wanted to treat COVID like they'd treat an IT problem. Create a custom built immune system response and install it into the body. It's tech they've been trying to get a chance to try out on humans forever, but since it kills all the animals they try it on they haven't had the OK to do so.
Operation Warpspeed gave them the opportunity to lie and claim they were making a vaccine, when in reality they were making experimental mRNA Gene Therapy. Which they've admitted to in private.
