Chantal brings so much chaos into her family's lives but I suspect a lack of pictures on family Facebook accounts has more to do with her family taking it on the chin every time they pose with Chantal rather than a calculated attempt to purge themselves of Chantal in a Soviet-style unpersoning. She's probably been uninvited from family fun for a lot of reasons (she's stoned, she stinks, she's loud, she can focus on and think of nothing but food, she's an attention whore) but not the least being that they have no assurance she won't try to film them, even covertly, and post the videos or photos. and after receiving any number of unhinged comments or seeing themselves discussed mercilessly, they've likely made everything private. Moms don't often remove pictures of their kids like they are a couple breaking up on Instagram.
Her family posts a pic of everyone around the Christmas trees and within minutes it is being discussed by people with very unkind eyes and outrageous ideas. Seriously, there is a theory that Chantal is a product of incest because she resembles her uncle. Kim and Natalie have their weight discussed tirelessly. The family gets called trash for everything, from their eyebrows to their home decor choices (evidently Kim's knickknacks and the uncle's At Home-holiday decorations are signs they are pure white trash, assessments that baffle those of us who are descended from pure white trash because a clean house with a few Precious Moments figurines and Rooms to Go furniture doesn't come close to being trashy but whatever).
Kim did her best to be kind when Chantal ambushed her at Natalie's birthday gathering, taping her even though she asked her not to, and that video was analyzed within an inch of its pixels. Chantal put her on the spot once over the phone, asking her if she was proud of her, Kim did the mom-thing and said she was, and that innocuous uttering from a mother who may not have even known her statement would be broadcast since it was a phone conversation is now used periodically to bash her. "Chantal eats her own feces and farts on the homeless, her mom is SOOOOO proud of her!"
So yeah, I think their decision to remove Chantal from their social media is less a purge than a selected privatization because any time they are seen with her in any regard their entire lives are discussed and their appearances and characters are trashed. I suspect Rasta Auntie will make private a lot of her family entries once Natalie and Kim realize that once again their pleasant holiday fun pics are on this site.
In short, we are assholes and since Chantal brings assholes like us into her life, they need to protect themselves and one of the best ways her family can do this is to make private all their interactions with Chantal and make sure she cannot secretly record them in a sad attempt to appear to be close to her family.
