You're correct. When compared to the western world the USA is pretty far right. But US politics have been shifting left over the years and not to the right. Like Trump actually scores further left then Biden on a political compass, and he was the conservative candidate.
I've been mulling this over on how to approach this, because I saw in the Covid thread of this myth permeating. This is a superficial understanding of the dynamics of the political landscape of both Europe and the US. While I cannot address everything, like the history of it, I can give you data that is reputable by the Comparative Manifestos Project.

These graphs show the overall score of political issues on the Left-Right dichotomy. This isn't even getting to social, welfare, and economic data, and it's generally the same from what I've seen. With that said, this is by no mean saying Democrats are communists—they're not, as it's just as erroneous as asserting that Democrats are a right-wing party, (the Republican and Democratic party are tents; they include a spectrum of people on the Left-Right dichotomy) or how Republicans are Nazis. (interestingly, the data suggests that the Republican party is treading more right-wing) These graphs, however, probably don't even dwelve into the social aspects, like how fighting gun control is more of a right-wing thing in the US compared to Europe, where it's seen as an agreed upon thing. Feel free to dive into the data and compare and constrast on the site here. The gist of it is that you're essentially spreading propaganda created by Bernie Sanders simps, Breadtubers, and Rose Twitter. It kinda baffled me to see this comment on here, as that's actually a statement that helped Breadtube gain traction by making it appear more moderate than it really is.
