Robert Eggers (director of The VVitch and The Lighthouse) has been developing a movie about a Viking prince (based on a figure from Scandinavian legend who inspired Hamlet) seeking revenge for the murder of his father when he was a child.

The trailer just dropped today:

For me, this is my most anticipated movie of 2022. The Lighthouse was my favorite film of the 2010s, and this looks epic as fuck IMO. Hopefully, it continues Eggers’ trend of recreating historical periods with high degrees of verisimilitude.

Also, it’s got Nicole Kidman and Anya Taylor-Joy, who are both hot as fuck. Hopefully we get some nakedness from them both.

I've been looking forward to this ever since it was announced. Glad we finally got some more details and a trailer. This poster looks dope too.

Was this originally supposed to be a Leonardo DiCaprio movie, because I remember hearing years and years ago he was in talks to do a Viking movie where he plays a prince or something.

Eggers makes kino not consoomer product so he probably flies beneath the radar of the coom brained twitterati, none of his shit comes accompanied by an action figure line so it's not worth caring about to their minds.

I'm really fucking weary of cinema, so the moment a woman appears in a trailer, I start cringing, wondering if she's gonna be Sassy-McNinjarella, who will single handedly put every UGH MALE in their place while also being a nurturing, life-giving goddess of virtue and splendor.

Might not be applicable for this movie, given the prior comments, but I can't help it, so many movies and franchises ruined by the YAS KWEEN SLAY faggots.

That being said, I'd like to see a Viking movie about Vikings doing Viking things while wearing Viking clothes, Viking armor and carrying Viking weapons. Hollywood really fucking sucks at that, though, so the Vikings always look like the GoT wardrobe threw up all over a sexshop's leather-gimp collection.

That was actually a movie that Mel Gibson was slated to direct:

Yeah, this looks amazing. And more accessible/mainstream than his other films, which is interesting in and of itself.

The only thing I hope from this movie is no scenes with very dark lighting. It always made me sleepy watching movies like that
