It's because everyone, literally almost everyone my age (early 40s) and younger, has read Harry Potter. It was the biggest pop cultural phenomenon of the 21st century in the English speaking world as far as books and movie tie-ins go. Marvel may come close now, but Potter was highly lauded by educators around the English speaking world, perhaps the entire world, because it got children reading. No other book series has had as much success ever in getting children's attention.

These children are now grown up. The ones my age were in college when the books came out, we introduced them to our children, who are now teenagers/in college. All of us are the demographic for trooning out for various reasons, our early lives were spent being fascinated by this magical world where the good guys won and the bad guys were obvious.

Trooning out is magical thinking, whether or not you realize it is. So when the author of the magical books of our formative years, or our children's formative years, comes out and says "magic isn't real" a whole lot of mentally ill people are forced to confront the cognitive dissonance they've been avoiding for so long.

Then the REEEEEEEEEEEEING happens.

TL;DR: Most popular book series of all time attracted a shit load of mentally unstable believers in magic, who are all devastated to learn God says magic isn't real.

Sounds right. Additionally, I remember the predictions that all the kids reading Harry Potter would eventually graduate to real literature. Sadly, didn't happen. The only graduation was sideways to what came to be described as young adult novels, soaking up the 'lore' of other fandoms like Star Wars, pornographic fanfic communities, etc. They certainly read a lot, except they exclusively read garbage. This probably has something to do with both the smugness of progressives and their general lack of higher cognitive functioning - they are a horde of midwits.

From the comments:
I was in my local convenience store ordering food at a touch screen, I had my makeup on but a mask on too. I see a man and a woman nearby, he leans down and says something to her, she turns her head at me, then looks straight and without a beat just goes "That's a man."
I felt like I got knocked out of my skin hahaha

What cis-patriarchy? Is there also a trans-patriarchy? What makes the latter acceptable but the former not?

The selfie is the very epitome of a low-effort tranny, and I am getting some weird Buffalo Bill aura off of this guy.

Crush the patriarchy? Nigga you ARE the patriarchy.

Personally I don't care if the kids who started to read because of Harry Potter went on to read literature or garbage. Reading anything at all improves your vocabulary and keeps your brain active. It helps you do better throughout school because the more you read, even light fluffy ya fiction, the more your reading comphresion increases. The better you do in school the more likely you are to go on to college and university and make more money. In addition to all that you're probably more likely to continue to read for fun, even if it's garbage, as an adult. Some adults will move on to better fiction and nonfiction, others won't, but at the end of the day it's all personal preference. The person who reads nothing but high-brow literature might be better educated, but they aren't a better quality person than the person who reads exclusively YA. Let people enjoy things, as long as it's not actively destructive to them.

I think the progressives being smug and stupid has less to do with what they read and how much they read. Saw an infographic that claimed most adults read 7 books a year. Seven. Even if those seven books were nonfiction or literature that's a miniscule number of books. I know adults that never read at all after college. No idea if that translates over to reading news articles or anything, but probably not. At least not the im-depth ones that would challenge their thinking. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TV are too easy.

I read some literature but a ton of garbage; mostly I just want kids to read a lot more and watch TV/be on the computer a lot less. Any reading is better than none IMO.

Great example of how untrue "Some trans women pass" is.

No. None do. Pictures are doctored and people who think some trannies do pass are naive or super sheltered

I mean it's stupid to say NONE do, but the vast majority do not. There's bound to be a least one or two you've come across in your life that you didn't even know was born a man or woman.

I knew it, it's finally starting to happen. Drag queens are FINALLY starting to get torn apart by the transfolk.

If there's anything that could rile up white women more than anything, it's the cancellation of their Drag Race. The average woman doesn't give a shit about sports records being broken or some fringe jail issue (because they think people in jail deserve being beaten up anyway) but removing their little show? That's going to cause a fucking civil war.

What's happening here? 16 minutes is 16 minutes too long to watch a troon sperg out
He's not wearing pants at around 5:16

And this is a guy in his 60s, doing the usual fashion trends for supermodels.

Oh, and he actually got naked on YouTube to show off the results of his GRS. I think it's the 34th, 68th and 89th ones on his channel.

Discussions of passing are cursed here, because to some troons it can mean "getting "correctly" gendered out of nothing but niceness" and to some kiwis it means "being identical to a bio-person of their desired gender while naked under scrutiny and a strong light" (which is never ever ever gonna happen)

Neither work because passing is contextual and the whole thing is a spectrum. Someone can pass, as it's not always that hard to get confused for a couple of seconds with the other sex by a distracted person. It won't happen to that guy the football captain desperatly tried to recruit because he is naturally huge, but it can happen to his friend. All you need is, for exemple, to be a skinny soft-skinned dude with somewhat decent long hair or a tall, short-haired woman wearing a big coat and no jewelry. A lot of people are just not paying attention. And if you are committed and lucky you can extend that second of confusion to hours with hormones, voice training, proper clothing, and cultivating your facial hair (or lack of)... it does change things tho it's really depends on the person, some have already some androgyny in their bone structure, some absolutely don't. Even if there's only two sexes, and we are sexually dimorphic, we are not as sexually dimorphic as many other apes, and a lot of aspects kind of trickles down to both gender...

Anybody who think they clocked 100% of the troons they have been in the presence of is the sheltered one, especially since i gather from some comments on subjects like plastic surgery that a lot of people have some level of face-blindness or at least are really not visually-oriented. You maybe didn't went to the beach with a troon and didn't notice, but you could ride the bus with troons and not notice. And i am not talking just about the early transitioners who started blockers at 12 and hormones at 16. Obviously not all trans are like the ones who are posted here.

It's actually a bit of a shame that the subject is so misunderstood, because it is fascinating.
Being in the presence of one mostly passing trans persons, is actually a really curious experience, as your perception of the person flickers like a light-bulb. Some aspects you were not aware of immediately can suddenly jump at you, and then fade again... for example they were firmly into one gender category, then you noticed the hands, or their voice drop or crack, and suddenly you see them as the other category, seemingly without beng able to unsee it... but then you stop watching the hands, they try a little harder on the voice, and it gets a little bit better.
And it involves a lot of dumb luck because some have a decent chance of passing steadily and for others it's gonna be an uphill battle.
I actually understand to some extend why there's so much paranoia over minor social interactions in the community because i think they are aware of how fragile it can be. But in short, those trans people are the real non-binary ones, they have experience from both side and from neither.

Edit: I knew That comment would be controversial but still, a great litmus test

To put it into perspective, the subliminal check of whether someone is a troon or not has seen me accidentally confuse biological women with badly passing transfolk, because the tell tale signs are there but they're false positives. I genuinely feel sorry for a lot of biowomen cursed with a little masculinity because there's just enough uncannyness to lose all attraction like that.

Wasn't it revealed this dude died of covid the last time he was posted?
