Somebody told them it was bad for the environment. Of course, watching hours of porn, Netflix, gaming on high-powered PCs, and every other part of their consumerist lifestyles has no effect on the environment at all. Only NFTs and cryptocurrency are the problem.

I haven’t seen a practical use for NFTs yet myself, but there’s no justification for their level of sperging towards NFTs.

NFTs are a massive grift and pretty bad for the environment and just generally stupid, but these guys as with everything else they hate take it to a new level of autism. I personally hate everything crypto/NFT related and especially hate that it's creeping into gaming but I can just not engage with it. REEtards are used to being able to dogpile and attack everything they dislike with a religious zeal and have mod backing, but for whatever reason in this instance the mods seem to be pro-crypto and there being consequences for losing their shit is just making them go more crazy.

There is a document that has been making its rounds on the internet that tries to show people the power consumption required to create NFTs. I saw it once, and while I have no way to verify it, the numbers seemed REALLY exaggerated. They were saying things like it takes the power output of an entire small country for a YEAR to create one NFT. I'm sure there is an actual environmental impact, but I think a lot of the more excitable twittards have been extra spooked by propaganda.
