Dear politician who makes decisions that affect tens of thousands: Most people your age aren't on Twitter for Christmas. They're instead sitting next to the Christmas tree and agreeing with their child that the action figure the child received is indeed the coolest. But no, keep sitting there with your boxed virtue signal. Maybe you'll get a nice t-shirt with a paragraph of text illegible except in a posed selfie to go along with it.

This sort of thing makes so mad, god. I almost guarantee these people who buy/sell/want/praise/whatever this sort of trash are the type to complain about pollution, global warming, capitalism, etc. Yet here we are with some cheap plastic toy sealed in cheap plastic and cardboard, wrapped in paper or plastic to then be unwrapped, photographed to be hosted online by a mega corp. while never actually being played with. Its all for virtue points. Who cares if its wasteful? You though? No bitcoin, too wasteful. No space travel, too wasteful. I will restrict your ability to use a certain water pressure in your showers, but I can buy trite garbage to have it shipped to me in one of the most pollution-heavy ways so I can post on Twitter about how you should obey the government.

I don't even find the waste itself that upsetting.. its just the mental gymnastics they have to go through to find it acceptable that switches something in my brain that makes me want to hurt someone.
