Just the other day a guy I work with sometimes texted me asking how good I was with "analysis of the generalities of trans issues".

If I say the wrong thing, he'll spread it everywhere and my career I've worked my ass off for for over a decade is effectively done. I just responded by saying that since I'm not a trans person I generally try to stay out of it because I prefer to let them speak for themselves. He immediately starts telling me that many of the people he considered himself close to have revealed themselves as TERFs and he finds it extremely disappointing that they are still being hired.

there's perhaps an even simpler reason. if youre going to go through the trouble of changing your name, which often involves paperwork, a nominal fee and a court visit though not always, and you know you're only going to do it once, some rather cheap-minded and impulsive people think, well i better get bang for my buck and be Omicron. also the fact that male troons know that if you don't see their face, and they don't explicitly mention that they're trans, in any area of life, they fully believe their name indicates a hot woman. not them as they are, but a hot woman. it's like asking to be called someone else's name in the bedroom, for a second you almost believe the name siobhan could actually belong to you and that you're some kind of irish princess. that second is euphoric enough to go through with it, and they've chosen delusion. the fact that they look like sewer rats and have a name for a forest nymph hardly ever crosses their minds. it's aspirational, in a way.

for female troons, most want to have a mildly quirkly youthful name, an actual character name, or an invisible name (yes there are actually butch women who troon out and pick names like "dan", they're in the minority).

regarding the matrix:

Has probably convinced himself he’s being heroic and weeding out TERFs and doesn’t stop to question why he’s only targeting women or why doing it makes his peepee hard.

Just the action of sending his female colleagues those messages, even if they’re wise enough to reply with something neutral, sends a message and gives him power over the women he’s messaging: “I am watching you, and I will make efforts to destroy you if you step out of line. I can force you to lie and police your own thoughts, as this exchange has shown. I have power over you.” Trans activism is just a tool to give him that feeling of power.

The thing that’s alarming is to me is that most non binary girls really aren’t that butch. Or even FTMs — go on r/FTMFemininity and there’s so many of them with long hair and makeup and dresses and also permanent changes from hormones and sometimes surgery.

I think we can all understand why really, really butch women troon out. They actually are “not like other girls” and that will always be alienating. But most non binaries are within the standard range of female appearance and behavior, and they’re especially within the standard range of *lesbian* female appearance and behavior.

I don't know if it's just me and becoming more cynical as I age but these self harm scars look more like body art than actual self harm. They're perfect spaced clean lines. I know this person has mental health issues by what they've done to their body but it feels like it's the same weird desperation to be special coupled with body dysmorphia that drives people to do extreme body modifications in the piercings/tattoo/scarification communities. Far too many people these days want to 'stand out' like being normal is some horrific thing and they seem to have zero concept of the fact they aren't going to be young forever nor are people going to applaud them and/or tolerate their special brand of mentally unwell bullshit long term.
