TGWTG Nostalgia Chick / Lindsay Ellis / TheDudette - aka Hotdogs in face girl

People on the left scoff at cancel culture as a "rightwing conspiracy" but clearly the left is eating itself with all this not-woke-enough BS. When are these limp noodles going to saying enough is enough? I thought some of Lindsay's video essays were well done, but ultimately she endorsed that culture. Support cancel culture and you will be canceled. That's a fact. She was eaten by the monster that she gave power to. It doesn't matter how much you try to flatter the mob - they will come for you. Especially since she had committed the crime of being a semi successful white woman in a capitalist society.

Of course Lindsay is buttmad with envy at JK - she's everything Wine Aunt is not.

JK's books sell truckloads by the day, while Ellis' books are rotting in the bargains bins

JK has billions that she doesn't have to e-beg for

JK knows she has lots of haters but doesn't let it get to her. Mean while Lindsay is practically crying a river and holding a razor to her wrists over mean Tweets.

Even now, Drunky is STILL trying to pull her I'M NOT MAD I'M NOT MAD IT IS YOU WHO IS MAD! schtick.

Because that worked SO WELL in her MASK OFF video.

@Boston Brand,
Three questions; I think i can't reply directly to the post because it's too long.
1- Compared to hardcovers, paperbacks seemed to me like a premium product, selling less but for a higher price? Is that not the case? Are they not more expensive to produce?
2- Do these numbers include ebooks? If not how are they factored in?
3- I've started to trust your taste, so want your opinion on Andy Weir? I liked the Martian movie but didn't read the book. Are his other books worth giving a try?
I can give you an answer to #1 for books published through publishing houses. You have it backwards, hardcovers are expensive to print and ship, ergo they cost more and are considered the a prestige format/release. Pocket paperbacks are cheap to produce and are follow up releases, usually about 6 months after the hardcover print run. Something to take into account is that publishers order the initial run of hardcovers for distribution to retailers blind, ie they print X copies of a book, then ship those books to retailers, book stores and on-line distributors without knowing how it will sell, paperback releases have print runs based on thru sales numbers of hardcovers.

Due to her being a unproven author I would not be surprised if her initial hardcover print run was 50K copies and the soft cover print run was the same size likely less. In contrast a successful book from a proven author might have an initial run of 250K hardcovers, with multiple printings before the paperback release six months later, while surprise hits have lower initial runs but get those multiple printings prior to paperback release. Her sales numbers trending the way they are show that after the initial ad campaign and sales push, things dropped off a cliff. My guess is that she signed a three book deal with her publisher and they are just riding it out and going to use it as a tax write off.

On #2, ebooks and audio books are not counted in those sales numbers, but are an additional amount usually equal to ~25-30% of total hardcover and paperback sales in total for ebooks and ~10%-15% for audiobooks. So if we are being generous she's likely sold about 12.5K ebook and 6.3K audio copies. A standard royalties contract (for a unproven author) would net her roughly ~$2 per hardcover ~$1 per paperback and ~$1.50 per ebook/audio book, but note that royalties are paid against the advance, so if her advance was $20K, until her calculated sales royalties goes over that she gets paid nothing in addition to that advance.

The "Trans" part of that letter Essay makes me laugh

One of the most common tools of exclusion is through mobbing, which is rarely talked about because unlike rape, murder, etc, it’s not easy to pin it on a single person (or scapegoat). Mobbing is emotional abuse practiced by a group of people, usually peers, over a period of time, through methods such as gaslighting, rumor-mongering, and ostracism. It’s most documented in workplace or academic environments (i.e. key points of capitalist tension) but is thoroughly institutionalized into feminist, queer, and radical spaces as well. Here is why it is horrible:

1) It has an unusually strong power to damage the victim’s relationship to society, because it can’t be written off as an outlier, as some singular monster. It reveals a fundamental truth about people that makes it difficult to trust ever again. People become like aliens, like a pack of animals that can turn on you as soon as some mysterious pheromone shift marks you for death.

Almost like trannys act like assholes and are kicked out of groups for it, who else could that apply too Lindsey?

What's worse - when a fat capitalist pig lays 5 people off without notice around the holidays and completely throws their lives into disarray just to increase his profits, or when Lindsay Ellis does the exact same thing just so she can make a scene on twitter?
Gotta give it up to internet commies and white women. "Uh, listen sweetty, 10k a month really isn't enough to live off of and Lindsey is a proud BIPOC of the working class and isn't like a ZILLIONARE like that guy who runs amazon or Microsoft. She's part of the working class and knows the streets."

Considering I hear nothing but praise about her these days I can't imagine the backlash was that severe. If Pewdiepie can have several major news outlets decry him as a racist, then continue to consistently make content, why can't she get over some fucking trolls?
Pewdiepie had a hatedom to match his fanbase when he was still starting out back in 2011-2013, and he still had some of his biggest detractors (mostly the Newgrounds animators) come around on him because he is a chill dude. Lindsay comes across as very standoffish and Karen-esque. I didn't believe Lordkat's "she's a cool lady" story because instigates cancel parties a lot and plays around with the scorched earth technique like she just got it for her 10th birthday.

That post was unhinged. Saying things like her life ended 9 months ago...damn. Her drunken ramblings was full of loose logical threads, and easily discredited conclusions. Someone should have taken her phone/internet away months ago, and only allowed her to access it when supervised.

What if she had just kept her mouth shut? What if....after her completely innocuous Avatar/Raya comparison got a bafflingly weird pushback, she just ignored it completely? It's like a lesson in letting shit blow over. It's like the white woman on twitter's version on the Boondocks Nigga Moment.

I love how she puts up a strawman of 'Bad Abusive Boomer Parenting' to deflect anyone who would be saying that she's overreacting. Lady, these people aren't telling you to grow a 'thicker skin'. They are telling you that you need to see a fucking therapist to fix your goddamn ego and self worth. Your entire post reeks of depression brought about by alcoholism. If you can be this crippled by the unhinged opinions of others, you were already broken deep inside and all the asspats were just the spackle holding you together with unwarranted praise.

Of course...this could all be just one genius grift. That Newsweek article has a bunch of people reading the tweet that launched a thousand bad takes, so everyone knows just how dumb the initial shitstorm was.

But you would think a 'Leaving the Internet Waaaaaah' grift would be better written. I thought the Raya tweet controversy was dumb. But I thought her response to it was dumber. And this? This is the retard topper on the dumbass cake. She comes across as spoiled, petulant, rambling, self-absorbed, and illogical.

Put down the bottle and get a shrink, girl.

Not to mention the millions JK spent on charities for abuse survivors.
What did Lindsay do besides doing a stream with Contrapoints and throwing 20 bucks at Queer Kids Stuff ™ (who may or may not be a pedo).

Here's a small sample of salt from her fans. Look at the fucking theatrics on display from these people.

SO FUCKING CLOSE TO SELF AWARENESS

The simps and fans need to stop having a "parasocial relationship", to use a popular phrase, with a woman who would probably hurl a wineglass at their head for not uncorking a wine bottle fast enough.

I hope she has a rude awakening to the fact that the male feminist simp viewers that make up much of her audience don't actually read anything longer than the blurb on the back of a Blu-Ray cover and only ever wanted to fuck her.
