Regardless of her lack of insight, I can sympathize with her extreme discomfort at being reviled by thousands of people. Until recently, being hated by thousands of people was something reserved for a handful of political or criminal figures.

Parts of this note sound like the sort of thing you say in a fit of resentment but then wish you could walk back later: "I regret every time I’ve ever stood up for anyone - it always backfires. It's a little hard to imagine someone who isn't emotionally agitated in that moment agreeing that, "Yeah, I definitely regret pushing back against injustice."
