War on Poverty -> Lost
War on Drugs -> Lost
War on Terror -> Lost
War on Covid -> Lost

gee the government sucks at this
War on Poverty -> More government power
War on Drugs -> More government power
War on Terror -> More government power
War on Covid -> More government power

idk, looks like the government is achieving its aims here. The people in government don't give a shit about the stated goals of these "Wars on", they only care about accruing more power for themselves.

People in my area are getting really concerned about Omicron due to the high death rates, that I am not exactly sure anyone knows.

I currently work at a library, just to get by till I hopefully do paid internship stuff this summer as I am still a Junior. Thankfully we are not carding people, but there have been talks about cards for places in Illinois in the near future, primarily gyms.

I am kind of worried/not about another shut down occurring. I would like to have some campus experience for college, but there is a good possibility the powers that be will claim in-person is too dangerous and shut things down. My brother is already believing in some of it. If it happens it will suck, but at this point I also don’t give a shit as my college years have already been tainted hard by the online school shit.

"Delta Karen" and thus, a new meme is born. For a former Playboy model and Baywatch actress to be back on the limelight, she completly messed her comeback in the world of showbiz, lol.

This is the weird thing. Infection numbers are increasing, yes, but severe hospitalizations and deaths are apparently not any worse than before. But it is hard to find the numbers. Deaths from the new Omicron variant are even harder to pinpoint. The media is being suspiciously vague on the details, creating lots of worry and fear (which is inarguably in the media’s favor). It is so frustrating.

UK covId rules for New Year's
Scotland > Clubs closed, table service only. Wales > Clubs closed, rule of 6. NI > Clubs closed, rule of 6
England > no new restrictions, vax pass for nightclubs (has anyone had an experience with this yet? do they even check/care?) Scotland also banned ""non essential"" travel to Manchester a while ago and that's back in headlines to prevent Scots going to celebrate NYE as Sturgeon warns of 'bus loads' of Scots travelling down (a). Reminds me of last year when I met a bunch of tier 4 tourists from London who'd come up to tier 2 cities to drink.
Also does anyone have a TL;DR of how the vaxx causes higher chances of catching Covid/leaving you worse off? Does it fuck with the natural immune system and kill off the white blood cells or prevent them from functioning right? Hard for me to fully believe that it really would leave you worse off than if you got it. I can believe its useless/does nothing but the idea its worse just seems... too tinfoily in a way. Thanks

Radio ads in the UK that 'encourage' people to get the boosters are using hypnotic methods of language and timing. There are two ads that waffle on for a bit, but both have this little gem in them:

"[spiel about omicron], so make sure you are double-jabbed and get your Booster...now [said softly but with authority]"

The other ad goes:

"[Speil about omicron] Two vaccines are no longer effective enough to fight Omicron (I mean, l o fucking l that they admit two VACCINES don't work, but that's by the by) and you need to get a booster in order to protect your family and friends, so get your booster...now [soft with authority again]"

It won't mean much to those who aren't aware, but the pacing, tonality and pitch that the "Now" is said, is how you achieve compliance within an individual when trying to do X [induce a trance, gain compliance, phobia removal, addiction removal and a whole host of other shit].

I just thought it was interesting that those techniques are being used. If you have to use hypnotic pacing and NLP techniques in an advert for people to get a booster for the super serious aidsflu, then it isn't that serious or necessary, otherwise people would just get the booster.

Update: slight fever returned hours after I posted, paracetamol and ibuprofen nuked it again and I got a good night's sleep.
Coincidentally I had a doctor's appointment the morning after, ended up chatting about the coof and she conceded that I probably got the Wuhan strain before testing was available but asked me to reconsider taking the shot because muh Omicron.
I did another home test and... you guys can guess what it said.

The gist of original antigenic sin is that if you take a shot for a strain of a disease that mutates fast enough, you can easily be exposed to a new strain where the antibodies you generated won't be effective. The issue is that your immune system is already primed and might not recognize the new strain, so it starts pumping out the old antibodies.
This has happened with Dengvaxia in the Philippines, and it's a genuine concern with HIV and one of the reasons we still don't have a vaccine for it. There's essentially a major ethical issue with getting trials for HIV vaccines approved due to the potential that people who participate in the trial may suffer greater harm if infected with HIV for real.
There are anecdotal instances of people seemingly getting their white blood cell count nuked after the second dose but this is probably not widespread or we'd be seeing tons of deaths across all ages.

If you have to use advertising to get people to take a vaccine in general, it isn't serious or necessary. The advertising budgets to "spread awareness" of the deadly disease and the wondrous vaccine are obscene, like in Los Angeles alone it was over 10 million dollars in 2020. In a real pandemic, people don't spend millions (probably billions) of dollars selling it to the public.

It is really, really difficult to find an official death toll from OMNICORN. All the news sites are going all-caps with their headlines (“Omicron filling hospitals! Officials brace for immininent mass graves!!1!”). But nothing on death toll, which, from whichever hidden sources that I can find, are negligible compared with before…
Current official death toll in the UK from Omicron Covid is 46, I assume this is very much with rather than of as no one else is reporting such 'large' numbers. Here in Australia zero deaths so far, Denmark no deaths etc. Yes people are still dying of Covid but that's because Delta is still around. There are estimated to have been at least 3 million infections in that country from Omicron Covid, perhaps more. The entire cycle of infection and disease is a lot shorter than other strains, perhaps a third to half the time, so if Omicron was anything to worry about we would already have seen a massive jump in hospitalisations, ICU admissions and death, it goes without saying we haven't.

Let's be super cautious and say 1 in every 100,000 who catches Omicron will die, that's about 15 times less dangerous than the seasonal flu. The fact some governments are STILL going on with mandates, vaccines and lockdowns should tell even the most normal of normies that there's something not right with this picture.

Hey remember how Biden had a vax mandate through osha that got put on hold pending a court ruling? According to my workplace just now, they ruled it's all good! We have to report our vax status by the 10th and by february all unvaxxed have to be masked at all times and tested weekly! Don't forget that getting the jab gets you a $100 gift card and every booster gets you a $50 card!

Alongside the breakthrough death rate they posted the 1 in 100,000 death rate for the unvaxxed of/with covid for Minnesota. The groups are broader than the ones they usually report, probably because the numbers would just be too tiny for most of these years to show any difference at all. Anyhow, the 1 in 100,000 deaths for 18-49 year old unvaxxed was only around 1 to up to 1.2 in 100,000 for the Delta variant. Sure vaxxed "improved that to 0 or 0.1... out of 100,000, so yes, there is even still some deaths in the younger range even vaxxed maxxed... but at such a low risk how can it be worth all the sacrifice and loss of life quality? It's just insane. For the kid demographic. 0 out of 100,000 risk for all sides.. you can't really improve on that, but you can give a bunch of extra kids myocarditis for funzies and on the off chance it helps some 90 year old live another week.

If you are old, it does seem to help in a recognized amount.. but yeah, when you are old everything is a risk to you. I hope that the left turns around after all this pandering to the elderly and declares we need to start putting people to sleep at 75 for the environment, just for the ultimate anime betrayal of it. I wonder if they would agree and just go along with it.

Furthermore, despite loving to felate relative risk values and dismissing looking at absolute values, anyone else notice how they love to count breakthrough infections against the entire vaxxed cohort, completely disregarding how few of them would have been exposed to covid in any given period. If the shot is so absolutely magic, why haven't we run a study on a group of vaxxed where we intentionally expose them all to covid and see how many become symptomatic? The shot should keep them safe, yes? They could be well paid for their efforts.

I wonder how well it would go for that experiment. The paper would probably need to be pulled.
