I haven't even finished the entire thing, I just needed to point this part out in particular ASAP. Like... what? Britney was actually harmed over the course of decades. You were called racist online or some shit. Huh?

The best part about that statement is that, while Britney couldn't really escape the terrible situation she was in without extreme difficulty, Lindsay could improve the situation she's in fairly easily in theory. No one in her immediate circle is holding her back, physically or figuratively, she has plenty of resources at her disposal to set herself back down the right course, and she can even make a good chunk of time for herself to figure things out. Most people today are lucky to have one or two of those things available to them to straighten their lives out, but Lindsay is acting like she's trapped in a cage with no way out.

Women! You can easily fix most of your problems if you drop social media and take a break from the Internet to sort your life out, maybe do a bit of self reflection and soul searching. She probably won't do that, because addiction to social media is arguably just as bad as an alcohol or nicotine addiction (not quite as bad a crack though) and the prospect of self reflection terrifies people like Lindsay. Don't get me wrong, it's difficult for everyone, but she's in a better position to do it then most, but she's going on and on like there's no chance for her, it's just another upper-middle class person having a melt down because the real world threw a bit of a punch at them, which is something that happens to many people almost every day.

This is why you shouldn't abandon or be ashamed of your roots, especially over a dumb reason like Lindsay. You might not like them, but they can keep you grounded when things get tough.

All the Anime avatars circling Tom Scott on twitter don't seem to know the context or even care. Bearup abandoned twitter (for real) a few years back and she won't engage with them.

She deleted the blog post but as far as I know she's never actually apolgoised. Tom Scott is a spinelss weasal, and in his blog post describing what happened seems genuinely annoyed that Bearup won't offer herself up to the Rainbow people as a sacrifice.

Jenna Marbles? Pretty much everyone ended up feeling bad for her. I got the impression "Mask Off" was referencing Jenna Marbles' leaving video as much as it was referencing Contra's drinking and arguing video.

The main differences are that Jenna Marbles authentically apologised and then actually left the internet, and Contra became a cynic and had something new to say. Lindsay basically wanted to go back to how things were before she got cancelled, but she didn't want to grovel and tried to pull out gotchas like "I was sexually assaulted" to make people feel bad for her.

The outrage over Jenna Marbles' old videos was/is laughable. She wore cheap/splotchy spraytan in many of her really old videos, and people accused her of doing blackface over it. The angry mob was actively searching for something to "get her" for, because the angry mob are miserable fascists who take pleasure in ruining everyone's fun.

I think that Jenna allowed herself to be canceled because I felt that she was "over" the whole internet thing anyway; that's the vibe I got from her last year of videos specifically. I think that she used her "canceling" as an opportunity to finally peace out and to live her life privately. She's not one of those "obsessively online" types like Lindsay Ellis is.

Lindsay is nothing but an attention-seeking drama whore. She has a huge chip on her shoulder about her cancelation because she feels entitled to people kissing her ass all of the time since she's an "ally" and all that jazz, lol. She very clearly states this in her "Mask Off" video, too. That entire video gave the vibes of "I'm a progressive SJW. You guys OWE me! Cancel other people, not ME, who has given everything to you!"

My mind keeps coming back to something. In the months and months that have passed since the Masks Off video, she has taken opportunities to crow about how the people who were dogpiling her with hate have backed off. In her videos, she has used it as evidence that "it was actually far right reactionaries concern trolling the whole time". This tells me one or multiples of three things have happened:

1) She is manufacturing a situation months after the fact for one reason or another

2) There was a sudden revival of trolling for reasons we don't know yet

3) Someone with actual influence did or said something to set Ellis off.

Regardless of how petty or boring the catalyst for this breakdown is, I want to know. This will say way more about everyone involved than the actual drama.
