TGWTG Nostalgia Chick / Lindsay Ellis / TheDudette - aka Hotdogs in face girl

I’m going to go out on a limb and say she’s not even a lolcow. She’s a cow, certainly, but where the fuck are the lols? All I see are a bunch of spergs whining that she practically invented SJWism, and now ‘good riddance’, but she’s not anywhere on the level of someone like Blob, Dobson or Lupa. She’s also not outright lazy enough to be a Spoony.

Basic, Fem Literature 101 takes, an abortion documentary, and failed books aren’t anything special. Hell even her TGWTG work isn’t bad enough to be funny, nor was it ever good enough for her to be a ‘fall from grace’ character.

She hasn’t trooned out and looks basically the same as she always has except for normal aging. She’s married, which is a normal thing, doesn’t appear to engage in any degenerate behavior, and doesn’t have an OnlyFans. In fact a lot of the spergs here are hoping for one of those things to happen. They are clinging to the idea that someone with her views has to go insane and can’t possibly have a relatively normal, uncorrupt life.

I think she just has a thread here because she’s left-leaning, associated with gamergate and related shit, and this site has other ex-TGWTG, so she seems to fit in. Wake me up when a real happening happens.
Lindsay was never on many right wingers hit list, she still isn't, she is getting canceled by left wingers, she joined in many other creator's cancelling mobs and lost any goodwill non-wokes could have had for her so no one is taking her side even when most people here reckon she got cancelled over nothinburguer and that cancelling itself is gay, Lindsay played herself and that IS funny

Challenge Accepted;
Somewhere out there in the multiverse there is a timeline where this whole situation still happened to Lindsay, but she's not nearly as bothered by it.

In this timeline, she co-owns maybe a small café or doughnut franchise store and a couple food carts, so her youtube and patreon earnings are a drop in the bucket and she's able to live comfortably with her husband. She at most only ever saw youtube as a fun side project she was able to make a bit of money on. She never got into social media, so twitter is completely alien to her, the closest thing she'd have would be her youtube comments, which she only sparsely reads.

In this timeline, her career as an aspiring novelist is still in the early stages, and slow going, but it's progressing and productive. Shes still a new talent but is able to rub shoulders with current Fantasy/Sci-fi and YA novelists like Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss and Cassandra Claire. Her relationship with her conservative hick parent's is still strained, which leaves her feeling lost and without guidance sometimes, but through her publisher she got to meet J.K. Rowling at an event. The two became fast friends, and Lindsay even considers Rowling to be a sort of progressive surrogate mother, being able to ask her for career advice, whether it's writing, or how to deal with the stresses of having an audience.

In this timeline, only her most die hard of fans know about her past with TGWTG, the hotdog meme was never a thing, she never made friends with Breadtubers and Anita Sarkeesian and Quinton Reviews and MovieBob got talking to each other due to both of them having online crushes on Lindsay and are now a married gay couple. She still looks at her initial youtube days and cringes with embarrassment, but writes it off as the folly of youth. She and Doug Walker are not friends, but are on relatively good terms, they still exchange Christmas cards every year.

In this timeline, Lindsay has never been within 100 feet of an abortion clinic.

This universe would be best case scenario for Lindsay.

Bonus stickers because that was actually super-interesting.
I really like how you brought up how in the alternate timeline she would still be a "budding novelist" because that's probably where she should be right now. Her "jumping the queue" kind of made things worse for her; a devil-deal that looked like the easy route, but just set her up for massive failure and disappointment.

This melodramatic letter is the lulziest thing she's done in years.
You just exposed yourself as a person that has read nothing in this thread.
Some of them unironically read her book just so they could enlighten the farms with how shitty it is. Wow, you really got her, guys.
What criticism is that?
"Lowcow X creates content Y. Do you really need to read/watch/see content Y to criticize lowcow X?"
Yes, we do. That's literally how this entire website works. Welcome to the Kiwi Farms.
but a lot of people are triggered by women and left wing politics on the internet
You are the one triggered by the fact that a lowcow can have the same sex and roughly the same politics as you.

This is a website entirely dedicated to documenting drama. Does person X creates drama constantly? If yes, this person has a thread. End of Story.

Yeah, it's Josh having a joke. Because she tried for so long to not be the Nostalgia Chick the idea of still calling her that when she retires is a slight against her. That's the joke. The featured title originally just read "Lindsey Ellis has retired from the Internet."
It's for the better anyway, "The Nostalgia Chick" is catchy, hip, fun, and cool. "The Nostalgic Woman" is dull, long, and forced. So the new title is much more fitting to her current personality. She went from fun lady to boring dumb bitch.

Like the masochist that I am, I couldn't help but read the most recent comments on her Mask Off video.

There are the ones who (correctly) point out she had nothing to apologise for.

And then there are those who fall at her feet and worship her. That seems to be the general theme of these comments.

There are also some commenters (disappointingly few in my opinion) who sperg about cancel culture. But even when they do, they don't blame Lindsay for it.

Even weirder was this X P guy who sperged out against anyone trying to pin this on the left, and insisted that cancel culture is a right-wing phenomenon, perpetuated by people trying to cancel all the REAL leftists. He even brought up Biden at one point. It was bizarre.

Another commenter begged (BEGGED!) her not to delete her channel. Plenty of people congratulated her on taking a break for her mental health. One person even said she wished more youtubers took this route (hard to know if that was a compliment, but I assume from context that it is).

Oh and apparently this thread is to blame for Ms. Ellis' cancellation. Good to know.

If she fell in with the Booktube crowd instead of Breadtube, she would have been far better off. There are youtubers who can be good authors, and vice versa. Brandon Sanderson's youtube videos, especially his recorded lectures he gives at his local college are actually really interesting for anyone interested in fiction writing. He's really good at giving comprehensive breakdowns not only about how to make good fantasy/sci-fi worlds, but also talks about the business side of being an author, how to get an agent, tax tips for authors, how do advances work, traditional vs self publishing, what percentage of royalties you should expect, its pretty interesting stuff.

One thing I don't understand, why is cancel culture only a communist philosophy? You don't see it in Nazism, we know like 20 different famous Nazis because hitler didnt disappear his friends. Yet communists turn on each other and vanish each other all the time. Both are evil authoritarian governments with a strict ideology, yet it is only present in communism? Is it because communism is a moving target and a harder ideology to follow? Or is the more vague nature of the beliefs of the left simply an easier tool to villainize people under?

Edit: It's not just sperging, its relevant. Breadtube is an openly communist crowd of people with a large communist following. Lindsay wouldnt have been canceled several times over if she actually had any kind of diversity in her fanbase.

Oh yeah, Kiwi Farms is responsible. After all, kf is known for their leftist troon army, right?

Call me General NeckRope!

But all I know now is that being in the public eye at all is a losing game, and I regret all of it. I regret every time I’ve ever stood up for anyone - it always backfires. I regret every time I pushed back against something unjust - it was always just used to hurt me. I regret every time I ever stood up for myself - I never did it “correctly.” I regret every time I showed any vulnerability - just more ammunition to be used against me later. I regret every time I ever tried to play the game with peers and colleagues - they will drop you the second you aren't popular on Twitter anymore.
I feel like this last part is probably just being glossed over by some people but this part is the most sympathy killing part of her entire post. Imagine openly regretting doing what you knew was right because you weren't showered with praise in response. I've never once regretted standing up for someone if I thought they were being mistreated, even if I knew they were a POS and wouldn't do the same for me. Doing what's right isn't meant to be done transactionally, or with the expectation of it paying dividends later Lindsay. Doing what's right is its own justification, even if or when your efforts come to naught or you're made to suffer for it. I'm sure all those people you helped before are so glad to read you apparently only did it for want of a reward or praise

I swear, Twitter induced PTSD has got to be one of the dumbest things to come out the last decade.
I LMAO'ed so hard at that. This is such an insult to women who actually had something traumatic happen to them like rape or domestic violence but leave it to Lindsay to use the suffering of other women to try to make herself look like the victim. You're shameless Lindsay.

Communism has a different historical narrative attached to it than Nazism/fascism/socialism. Nazism is holocaust, Hitler, etc. Communism has a more subdued outlook by most people and regarded as economically evil due to the anti-capitalism talking points to it.

I mean, you're not wrong. Compared to Linkara and his temper tantrums about the Lightbringer and Lupa and just... every batshit thing she does, Lindsey is boring as fuck for the lols. But when she goes off the rails like this, it has a higher entertainment value than the rest of the Channel Awesome lolcows because, coming from her, they're relatively rare.

But also, even when she doesn't bring lols, this thread is one of the most informative as learning about traditional publishing data and how it works and boils down is just genuinely interesting to read. So, while this thread isn't typically lol-hilarious, her meltdown has created pages to which the likes I hadn't seen since joining the Farms.
