You don't need to know anything about genetics - they are blatantly saying that they are gonna "run those findings" by the transgender community to make sure they are okay with the results/interpretation of the results before publishing them. As if we do this for studies on depression, or ADHD, or narcissism, of borderline, or any other fucking topic.

I don't know about the genetics but the study seems fine as far as that goes after reading it. It just says "we have no clue, give us more money to research this further" and they even admit that it might be totally meaningless to expect a genetic factor in people identifying as trans.

That paragraph is pretty stupid, but if anything, my bigger criticism of it would be that trans people identify as having "gender dysphoria" even if they really don't because you have to in order to get access to trans medical "treatments" they want. This thread alone is full of people LARPing about their "dysphoria" that supposedly cripples them. The paper obviously has to take these claims at face value even though it might be inflating numbers massively.
