White people are far higher in agreeableness than black people. Iirc American black women (as opposed to African immigrants) scored the lowest on agreeableness of any race/sex intersection. Don't wanna PL but I've experienced different cultures (though never really African or American African) and the differences in values and behaviors can be staggering and sometimes perplexing. I don’t think the issue is trickster veneration to be honest. African immigrants, who arguably are closer to their roots, tend to not be as racist in my experience and often are a lot more agreeable. The ones that speak Portuguese were arguably more European culturally than even some white Americans and a lot of them were the weeb equivalent of Portugal, Spain, or Germany. This could be because the ones who liked Europe decided to study and live abroad. I also wonder how much religion impacts it too. None of the Africans I met were into hellfire damnation and brimstone. A good number of them were Catholic or if they were Protestant it was one of those feel good churches that like to rock out on electric guitars. Even in South America they tend to be more friendly than their northern counterparts.

It’s like they took the worst aspects of Southern white culture and ran with it, but with less of the more positive traits like honor and family values. The “white (Americans) have no culture!” is pure projection. Outside of New Orleans, which was once French, there really isn’t much African influence in the US. The average African American couldn’t find Chad or Ethiopia on a map let alone distinguish the plethora of ethnicities there from one another. I highly doubt they even realize there are at four main family language groups or know of any African deities. In short black Americans are not as African as they suppose.
