Got a question for you guys:

Is HoloEN/Hololive in general oversized now? If it isn't, how many members would be too many?

Is there any member who actually is struggling, lacking for fans and revenue, etc? By general vtubing standards? I don't think there is.

Every member is demonstrably successful and has a sizable fanbase. People shit on Anya but she's more successful than the vast majority of vtubers and clearly still makes money for herself and for Cover.

I don't think it'll be a surprise to anyone who has read my posts that I personally don't watch Hololive much (or really, at all ) these days, but I suspect that most people who do will say that their members are not all identical, and instead all bring their own unique personalities and abilities to Hololive. Given that said unique members all have their own fanbases, I don't think Hololive is too big. If they were to shrink, would you want your oshi to be the one on the chopping block?

This thread in particular is an anomaly within the farms, at least from what I've seen. To my knowledge the stars wars thread is the only non-traditional thread that is as active as this one. Additionally, as has been repeated many times many of the posters/lurkers here exclusively post here and presumably only lurk here as well, creating it's own little autistic sub-culture, You see some threads in multimedia become more active from time to time, but I've yet to see any - non-lolcow - thread have as many highlights reach 20+ stickers for as long as this thread has within the last year. They are rarer now, but they still happen. For example, try searching for "merry christmas." To the chagrin of null and many a kiwi, sperging about real-time anime has cemented a niche on their website rather quickly. So, from that viewpoint I suppose we're seen as the drive-by fags who only exist to take advantage of their website and dump our shitty weeb culture on them before fucking off to do it to the rest of the world.

has been for years, welcome to the jp-niki world.

I'll tell you what I was told back when I asked this question back about 1 year ago. The hard-core fans will stick through and that will probably be enough to steadily keep the chuuba niche growing and profitable enough for the corpos. Back then I said that if Hololive made it through 2021, that they would go for at least 3-5 years of solid growth before succumbing to saturation and viewer fatigue. I still hold by that belief. I don't see any signs of another viewer explosion like that seen in 2020 unless another global event occurs and honestly stuff like Niji and Holo feel more like intermediary or even baby steps to something much larger than the current chuuba niche. Like early experiments for vr entertainment of the future to gain some insight from. I don't know if stuff from the corpos will be able to compete with that future entertainment or even that most chuuba roommates themselves decide not to continue their corpo chuuba activities for whatever reason that long into the future.

/a/'s been seething at vtubers again since they have the second most booths on Winter Comiket. I really don't understand why animeposters fucking hate vtubers with passion. Even their mods would shoah any vtuber post on a comiket thread when they're pretty lenient on Touhou and other non-anime otaku titles. God weeaboo spergery is something

What's being passport protected? Why was this page important enough to get both an english and japanese version? Is it possible that it's obviously not important and I'm just being a dumbass? I'm sure it's probably nothing, but at the very least, if no one or very few people actually know what this is, you could stick it pretty far down on a hololive iceberg chart meme.
Seems like they used Strikingly to make the old website, I'd guess that it's the login page for their admin dashboard. The new site uses WordPress and also has a login page here: https://hololive.hololivepro.com/wp-admin/ (I guess if you're putting it on an iceberg though, it would be more fun to call it the Hitomi Chris containment area)

So the first part of the Niji concert ended. It went on for 3 full hours and it has a ton of performances. To me, it has been a bit of a new introduction to some of the talents as I have very little experience with the JP members other than seeing a few of them in a clip or two.

1:14:25 Onegai Muscle. Dude doing push-ups, singing, dancing and he's not even out of breath.

1:42:07 Not sure what the song is but seems familiar (sounds like something from Nyaruko-san) really enjoyed this performance.

2:28:19 20 century boys. Wow they all sound super good except Ibrahim.

2:38:21 Holy shit im impressed. Dola (the big tit dragon) has blown my mind. I seriously was not expecting her to have such an amazing voice (lets be honest usually the big tit lewd designs tend to go to the people who don't really have much singing talent). I might have to check out what other songs she has done.

2nd part is up in a few minutes.

You're probably right though. This is likely just the admin login page.

This is precisely why I think Cover is trying to diversify their product output outside of streaming. They're an Idol company, after all, they have more flexibility than a company of just streamers. This is why you're probably going to see more and more of cases like Nene voicing a character in anime. And with the increasingly high quality of fanworks still being made today, Hololive is probably still going to attract people, at least for a year

The current Golden Age of VTuber owes a lot to the pandemic, and once it's over the hype wave is probably going down as well. But that also applies to other form of media that saw rises during the lockdown and stuff. Two years is plenty of time to keep VTubers in the pop culture subconsciousness, and I think it has already happen

One thing for sure though, because of how close each Holo branches are, they're much more global than other corpo/group. And that itself is one of their greatest strength that's probably going to keep them longer in the game

Ah yes one of my favourite holo streams of the year, a general look back on the year, lots of silly 3D minigames, what's not the love. Granted it all Jap, but with LiveTL and it running it in the background, its rather nice as it goes on for like 4-6 Hours I believe.

Here we go again
"Glasses are really versatile. First, you can have glasses-wearing girls take them off and suddenly become beautiful, or have girls wearing glasses flashing those cute grins, or have girls stealing the protagonist's glasses and putting them on like, "Haha, got your glasses!" That's just way too cute! Also, boys with glasses! I really like when their glasses have that suspicious looking gleam, and it's amazing how it can look really cool or just be a joke. I really like how it can fulfill all those abstract needs. Being able to switch up the styles and colors of glasses based on your mood is a lot of fun too! It's actually so much fun! You have those half rim glasses, or the thick frame glasses, everything! It's like you're enjoying all these kinds of glasses at a buffet. [...] Don't. You. Think. We. Really. Need. To. Officially. Give. Everyone. Glasses?"

On one hand, this thread is an anomaly. On the other hand, it's not the people posting here who actively shit up other threads.

The rule everywhere else is "look but don't touch". Maybe the Community Watch thread we need is a VTuber Derangement Syndrome thread.

Quick question: have any of the HoloEN girls gotten their Live2D 2.0 updates yet? I wonder, flipping between their streams and some indie vtubers show how janky they are nowadays. I normally don't notice but hmm..
I don't think they have. They'd have pointed it out if they did.

Other people can give you the intelligent takes. For me, if they ever can't all fit into sportsfes, that's when they have too many.

Depending your time zone, on New Year’s Day last year we were somewhere in the 370s in terms of pagecount.
That means almost 90% of the thread is from this year. And to think I thought I was late to the party when I started lurking around page 200. Happy new year everyone!

Here’s the clip of Gura finding all the fanfics, I think it was mentioned during the stream but the clip wasn’t posted here.

Pekora finally beat Sans and Nabi-Mama finally managed to flip her 7th or so pancake properly(ish. Also apparently it's a crepe-cake derp). We all have our personal victories lol

Edit: Since she ended her stream already, I presume to do new years things-

Kind of a shame I'll miss the last part of the EN relay, gonna be at work unless something changes. Least you nerds will have any announcements for me by the time I'm back.

I haven't caught much of these Nijifellas, gotta admit the designs sorta filtered me. I caught most of the collab with Phasmo though and Ike/Vox were alright. Nothing I'll chase to watch, but I'm glad they're all doing well.
