I love this particular lie more than most. Pig Roach projects all the time. This is a really fun example of that. People call him a scammer and a con-man. He goes out of his way to say he grew up catholic as to show people that he knows what good morals and ethics are. It's so childish, random, and objectively stupid that it is a rare instance of #PigRoach outdoing himself.

By the way, growing up catholic to most people means you zoned out at church during Christmas eve mass. Like most people, he couldn't be bothered to go on Christmas because that's I-get-presents / I-get-a-wolverine-IRL-Jpeg day.

I would say yes. He is massively ego driven more so than money, although the money is a close 2nd. He also brings up how much money he used to make back in the quite often lately.

Maybe this is another sign of the mid life crisis, him thinking back to how it used to be and reeeing about the people that came up along with him that all made better choices and are in better positions now.

Phil's act has long been that everyone and everything will try to stop him. He's always a target, and anything he can't deny being a set back is always a result of that perpetual victimization by others, but anything that has yet to pass, or he can deny being a setback, he asserts no one ever really succeeds.

The inevitable conclusion to this kind of illogical bullshit is that eventually the liar is unable to fool themselves with it anymore. Especially with Phil, who obsesses so much over fame and fortune, and cannot turn off his awareness of the money he makes these days compared to even just last year, and the views he gets per stream, especially with the obvious difference in WHAT draws the most views. Phil isn't ignorant of drama being a godsend to him in terms of the fame and fortune he seeks, and the only thing keeping him from exploiting that and coasting for many years to come is his hatred of that being his legacy.

It isn't enough that Phil is known and perpetually making more money than he needs, he demands his fame to be for a specific thing that makes him look cool too, and with all three of those things being unsatisfied these days, it's no wonder that even Phil can't lie to himself anymore, that he can't help going on such rants that are practically act-dropping.

He has officially gone past the petulant child phase of reacting to his career and moved onto the part where he slowly gets sadder and sadder about it until he starts crying on camera. Legit crying. He'll never make peace with things and start improving his mood, or atone for his sins and admit it's all his own damn fault, but I don't expect we'll see him nearly as full of rage over it anymore. He just doesn't seem so able to call bullshit on it like he used to. It has sunk it too much. Not enough to kill the pigroach illness, but more than with Vest Streak Phil, just over a year ago.

I love that that's because he just simply doesn't know how much better his playthrough could be, and I mean in the context of what Phil thinks is better. This is one of the few times where the nature of the game, the nature of his audience, and his hangups actually align. Imagine a playthrough full of all the most ridiculous mods, with Phil clowning it up like he loves to do. The tards would love it, he would love it, even the trolls would love it.

Instead what he does is dig out a ten year old console game that he only remember exists because it's too famous for him not to, solely to avoid playing anything new, having absolutely no idea that he could have it both ways like he always insists on. It's just another GTA, Mass Effect, or Fallout return to him, and so he's missing out big time on a golden opportunity he'll probably never get again.

It's really something, getting to watch just how powerful his stupidity and ignorance are, when his ego and pride aren't a part of the proceedings. I don't think it's even laziness, because he has shown that he'll put effort into something if he thinks it'll work, and on top of that, when does Phil EVER know about the modding scene for ANY franchise?

So he is still holding on to his loot crate junk, and decided to one night go through his nook hoarding stash and think "Hmmm, what cheap shitty hat can I use to bait people into giving me $100 for the day, after I had a day off?" while drunk.

Just speculation but watched him enough that is the line of thinking that would go through for him to dig it up and say he got a NEW hat for his streams. Oh and the Deadpool beanie too, fuck me man.
