Ok just tuned in to my first Mumei karaoke stream.. is this normal for her? I thought her previous life was of a Gura-ish singer..

edit: wtf ok now she shows hints that she actually has some pipes, now back to the retard act.

She has a pretty decent range, I actually like her rock music covers better than any of the others I've heard but she can nail a lot of different tunes. Hope someone out there archives this unarchived stream cause I gotta start on some calls here shortly so won't be able to listen along.

I sat through the Kronii karaoke and man I just don't see how people can say she is the best singer in hololive or even in holoEN. So much scuff and off-key singing and missed notes. And I am not a musical person but it is plain to see/hear. She's far better than the non-singers like Ame, Fauna, and Sauna, but that is a low bar. I put her mid-tier.

When she tries she can be amazing. But lately unfortunately she pretty much just Fs around 95% of the time. I'm starting to walk back on her as well. She can't seem to complete a song anymore without doing autotune or weird voices or messing around it seems.

edit: Yeah there is hints of it you can hear, but she already gave up and isn't really trying. Maybe she is a little TOO comfortable now and just screws around instead, but her first couple karaokes she stuck to the songs much better and it was really good. If you can find them, I recommend looking them up.

My main issue with Mumei is that it seems that when she tries to sing with her in-character voice it not the best but she does have really good range.

Don't think anyone has said that Kronii is the best singer. She does have an amazing voice (in my opinion one of the best) but her singing ability is pretty trash. Her main issue is that she might not be confident in her voice thus she gives halfway through every attempt. Another issue she has is that her vocal range is nonexistent so if the song goes high pitched she instantly fails at it.

People are infatuated with her voice. I don't think she's awful, but she's nowhere near Noel-bad.

I'm definitely getting that, seems like a shame. I hope she is just too deep into her character like Luna was and can hopefully drop the dump forgetful owl act.

And then she pulls out the Mulan song and kills it. Its all about the voice. Whenever she switches back to a more natural voice she kills it.

Maybe this is just me being dumb but I wonder if she's toning it down on purpose... Because her first couple where she blew everyone away, she jumped to the trending list on Twitter even for people who don't watch vtubers. Shortly after, cover announced possible changes to karaoke streams, forcing the unarchived trend to avoid DMCA. I have to wonder if those events are related.

All this Mumei talk reminds me of this clip where Calli and Inna legit thought Mumei sounded like Gura for a moment. I wonder if she is purposely nerfing herself so she isn't compared to and called Gura-lite. Might be the same with Sana, supposedly she is Inna's real-life artist friend but I haven't seen any amazing artwork from her.

I think it's one that doesn't get dmca so much or something because a lot of streamers outside of HL sing it too, plus its frequently requested. I agree though it does get old.
