Breast reductions are a different surgical technique though. These days breast reductions usually go around the nipple and never have to remove it. I mentioned this here before, but I know someone who got a non-FtM mastectomy because she had a strong genetic risk for breast cancer, and she also elected not to keep her nipples because the surgeon told her (in nicer words) that they might rot off and she wouldn't have sensation in them.

The issue is not so much that surgeons are too lazy to put the nipples back on, the issue is the surgery itself will fuck your nipples up, which is why they shouldn't be doing it to random healthy kids.

They don't have to be a different surgical technique though. The inferior pedicle technique has been used for reduction mammoplasty as well as mastectomy, and it's highly successful for mammoplasty, so I'm not sure why SRS surgeons aren't using it for GRS mastectomies. (I understand why it's not used for a cancer-related mastectomy that will be subject to expansion, reconstruction, and implantation at a later time.)

My take is that, when she says “there are innumerable gender identities” she’s just stating a fact. She isn’t saying they’re legit or that she agrees with them, she’s just saying that they exist. She obviously thinks they’re a heap of steaming bullshit, but she isn’t going to say that. She just reiterated that sex and gender aren’t the same thing, and gender identity should not replace sex as a protected characteristic in law, which is what she’s always been saying.

I don’t quite agree. Plenty of people with fetishes have shame about it, and even people living a fetish can have enough control to keep it quiet around others. There's plenty of people living weird BDSM lifestyles that drop it when they leave the house and don't feel a need to tell preschool kids about it.

But “feeling shame” is a reaction to societal shaming, ie, being told verbally or nonverbally that you have violated society’s norms. There are some people who are too autistic or sociopathic to curb their behavior in response to societal shaming, but the majority will.

If you gradually expand your deviant behavior online (posting your gross manboobs on social media, excessive ebegging for dumb shit) and you are not met with signs of societal disapproval but rather with compliments about how amazing and brave you are—you are going to keep doing it, and your behavior is going to steadily worsen. Everyone, even people who love you, are afraid to set even the smallest boundaries for fear of being transphobic TERFs. It's the same thing that happens to powerful people who don't have anyone around them to tell them no anymore, except those people at least have that power to fall back on, and the trannies are just weirdos humiliating themselves on the internet.

I’m not defending them exactly, since adults should know better regardless. But I am saying that on a whole autogynephiles could be shamed back into hiding relatively easily if society just stopped forcing everyone to constantly tell them how stunning and brave they are. Simply getting told that their eyeliner is terribly applied instead of "yass kween"ing them, telling them the truth that a grown man cannot become a sexy magical anime girl, shunning them from a group and telling them why when they are acting creepy, plus that boundary-setting being backed up by society as a whole? That would be enough to encourage 90% of them to rein it back in.

(Of course, this would not help the people whom AGPs harm in private, but at least their kids and wives would not be gaslit and ostracized for telling the truth about the fetish, and will be less likely to be humiliated by having to go out in public with a man dressed like a hooker from the 80s.)

It's not even just the shaming, or lack thereof. It's as much - if not more - the fact that for these AGPs submerging themselves in troon world online they receive a positive image of being a troon. They watch those transition timeline videos and (deludedly) think about how hot they'd be, read (often confabulated) stories about how awesome being a troon is. They construct a set of inchoate fantasies and positive associations with the idea, the feeling of being "shamed" away from their "true selves" that many troons will talk about is case of a clash between that imaginary world and the reality of being a married balding slightly overweight software engineer and father of 2.

Relatedly, I think it's worth noting that AGP in whatever guise does not programmatically progress towards troonism like some form of syphilis moving from genital chancre to general paresis. It's more that it creates a vulnerability to this psychological process of developing a positive vision of trooning out.

That's not to say that coomerism and it's consequences haven't been a disaster for all concerned. Shit like femboys and traps are plainly partly to blame for a lot of younger troons, since they can rather directly work to create that positive aspirational vision, since your teenaged dork can easily imagine himself as a cute trap or whatever, and see that as more appealing than any other subjectively plausible alternative.
