I've not seen any of their movies but I heard Whiplash was supposed to be pretty good?

Their only other drama The Normal Heart seems to have also gotten a good critical response.

So even though they make awful movies for the most part they might make decent dramas? (Which I assume this would be)

I'm not going to be surprised when I see so much rage on the film whatever date it comes out. It's not going to end well for Hollywood, her and even people in the Gamergate nonsense.

Shame Ed Wood is dead. He would've made a great choice to direct it.

I'd personally love to see Tommy Wiseau in the director's chair.

"I did not have sex with those journalists, it's not true! It's bullshit, I did not have sex with them, I did NAHT... oh, hi Anita."

Hollywood doesn't strike me as the type to take a gamble on stuff like this. They'd be alienating a pretty big--or idk even noticeable--portion of their audience. They'd never do that.

This is why this movie will never happen.

I recently heard Adam Sessler on a podcast talking about the salad days of XPlay: the video game reviews show on the now dead US video game television channel. They had jokes and segments and one of the segments that he pitched to the studio was about "How to not be a terrible person online" because of the mid 2000's online multiplayer culture where 13-year olds were screaming racial and sexual epithets in every lobby of every FPS. They had a chance to plead for "less sperging, please" on a far-reaching media platform. The studio turned down their fully-written segment because "We don't want to offend a potentially large amount of our viewers by calling out their behavior."

No studio would shoot themselves in the foot like this. They would rather that the most frothing, sexist, sociopaths on both sides remained as their faithful customers than release something that makes them question themselves.
