Hold the fuck up, he said “mutual aid” which is a term that the Twitter e-beggar thread as conditioned me to register as a negative gritting connotation… How the fuck is it “mutual”? Is it because playing white savior for helpless indigenous people is beneficial to their image in their SJW corner of Twitter???
There's nothing mutual about "mutual aid", it always boils down to "FUCK YOU, PAY ME" in twatter e-beggar circles. Same as here, really.

This is performative bullshit. There are reservations in need in southern Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico, so driving all the way to Pine Ridge, South Dakota isn't necessary. They're doing this simply to take advantage of the water protectors' clout.

@AGPinochet
I wonder what they're really getting for their money; mutual-aid more than implies getting something in return. Maybe they've found red-men with a greenthumbs.

Interestingly, Pine Ridge has been the target of numerous scams:

Pine Ridge – President Two Bulls: The Oglala Sioux Tribal leadership has recently been overwhelmed with phone calls and electronic mail messages concerning the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge (HHMC) organized by Jim Durham of Hot Springs, South Dakota. The motorcycle run started in Key West, Florida on June 20, 2010 ending in Homer, Alaska on the 4TH of July. The organizers claim that the goal of the run is to raise money for water improvement on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Alystar McKenneh, spokesperson for the HHMC, recently reported in a July 05, 2010 television interview on KTUU Channel 2 News (Anchorage, Alaska) that the $500,000.00 prize, donated by the Lakota, will be awarded during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August.

The Oglala Sioux Tribe was not contacted by the organizers of the event and are not aware of the existence of a half million dollars for the prize. Nor is the Tribe aware of any Lakota band donating such an amount for this event. It should be noted that the Oglala people are not the only Lakota band in South Dakota. Other bands include the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, Yankton Sioux Tribe, Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska, Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, Sisseton Wapaton, Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Ft. Peck Sioux Tribe, and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. If the Oglala Sioux Tribe had ready access to a half million dollars the funds would more than likely be used for the emergency needs of tribal elders and children. The administration of the Oglala Sioux Tribe’s Rural Water Supply System is also unaware of a plan by the HHMC organizers to improve the water system with the revenue generated from the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge.
An ordinance that addresses fundraising on behalf of the Oglala Sioux Tribe was recently passed by the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council to curtail fraudulent fund raising efforts by individuals who are essentially “scamming” the public in the name of the Oglala Lakota. The ordinance requires non-profit organizations and individuals to contact the Oglala Sioux Tribe for approval to raise funds. The Revenue Department of the Tribe will be directed to investigate the claims of the HHMC organizers with a full report for the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council.
It was noted that the Red Cloud Humanitarian Fund is listed as a charitable organization to assist tribalmembers and citizens on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Please note that the primary agent listed for this organization has been deceased for four (4) years. We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the motorcycle riders who rode and who believed that the needs of the Oglala Lakota were at the heart of the ride. We also express our condolences to the families of the riders who lost their lives during this event.

The "Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation" doesn't list any current fundraising drives remotely resemble anything that might involve the Tranch, even obliquely; I'm sure the tribe would be interested to learn more, considering the amount of cash & personal contact involved.

Worth clarifying because carpentry's not a common hobby these days but joinery (cutting and fitting the wood together) is strongly preferable over nails for load bearing in general and particularly structural loadbearing. Nails are a tiny point on which all the stress is focused every time the structure shifts, settles, sways, expands etc. Nails exposed to repetitive stress will fatigue, soften and eventually snap, if that acute force doesn't tear the wood around them first. Overall a nailed structure like this will have a short lifespan and a very low tolerance for live load. This is why the roof goes a-wandering in high winds and why it's likely to collapse if they get heavy snow.
This is all true, hope it’s not a powerlevel to say I’ve been helping with construction of a traditional post and beam barn last year- even using modern power tools to make the joints, it’s still quite exacting and slow work that needs a lot of skill, and the big timbers used are heavy and need manpower or machinery to put in place. The results are very satisfying though!

However, I wouldn’t shame anyone for not using those techniques to make a simple shelter for animals. With standard-sized, easily lifted lumber and fixings such as bolts, timber screws, nail-plates and metal strapping, and common sense methods of load-bearing, a perfectly good and long lasting structure can be built with no special skills. I’ve done several like that too, even single handed. They’ll be good for 20+ years without any maintenance, whereas the weight of snow has probably already trashed the trancher’s effort for the 3rd time.

If you have a bit of common sense you can devise a robust shelter out of whatever you have on hand. It’s a basic human ability. But repeatedly trying to make a roof without any sort of solid board or sheeting is an exercise in stupidity.

Edit: in summary

You know, it's funny they dug out that larp-barn only after the Farms pointed out last winter there were far too many alpacas in the old barn. These things could not possibly be connected now, could they?
Watch out for future cooking videos and the quality of the flame. Maybe they'll change out the gas nozzle or clean the air intake, realizing their imminent death from Farmer info.

Not s word about it on their Facebook page either.

That amazon wishlist is incredible. Here are a few bits that stood out to me:
Toys for Kevin. Well I've no idea why anyone relying on charity donations would want a $300 Lego set. And as for the stuffies. And who else would want a stuffed dinosaur.

(I should have screenshoted that anti-choking thing separately. Is it a posh ball-gag?)

Supplies for the adult in your life who can't stop pissing themselves. I wonder where they meet such people.

untitled7.jpguntitled6.jpguntitled5.jpg

An upgraded shower for the outdoor troons?

untitled4.jpguntitled1b.jpguntitled3.jpg

An amhole inspection device

untitled2.jpg

And the most gobsmacking of all, some Alpaca blankets made of the finest Peruvian alpaca wool. So they're not even showing solidarity with fellow US alpaca farmers.

I just can’t comprehend this latest grifting plan. So this is the big thing that Penny was all excited about revealing.

That wish list is unreal. It’s so transparently loaded with luxury goods shit *for themselves*. Will nobody in their audience clock this?

If they do in fact get donations like this, it has to be some sort of elaborate money laundering scheme, surely.

What's the trash collection situation like? I am not sure I want to know where and how they are disposing of all those disposable adult diapers and soiled wet wipes (:_(

In seriousness, although it’s olden lore from before my time: it’s a substandard DIY effort like everything else.

Hopefully someone can correct me if this is wrong but I recall one of the original tranch money making schemes was to get funding from somewhere to do a trash (or recycling) run for their out of the way neighbourhood. They bought several old livestock trailers for this purpose. Of course, they fucked it up in some way or resented doing the actual service, leading to bad blood between them and the community.

So yeah, kevkev’s diapers would be sitting on the driveway in a trailer for a week or two before being hauled to the city dump. Sustainable.

That's correct. They did provide the service for a while then went all "k lol no thx" and left the thing to another provider IIRC in a neighbouring county.
It was hilarious, using rusty old horse trailers to transport glass bottles and aluminum cans.

I see Kevin is taking his inflation fetish to new pressures :tomgirl:

And what are the Injuns going to do with fifty of them?
Lacking other options like establishing a new casino, they're going to invent a new genre of porn: Gay&Two-Spirit Injun Inflation Porn, get filthy rich selling it to degenerates like Kevie and the DoC as a form of legal torture, thus leading the tribe into a new age of prosperity.

Thats not an air pump, and it's the same type used in remote hydroponic grows set up off the grid.
:story:

Edit: Their plausible deniability excuse is probably for watering the alpacas without having to get up off their asses.
