Yes, interestingly, Kelly has the disposition of one of those screeching, unhinged, bitter "child-free" types, not of a happy and grateful parent, even though she actively chose to have kids. Like others have said, Jerry wanted a family, but that seems weird to me, too, since he is so distant and autistic and doesn't seem to know or intervene while Kelly posts naked pictures on IG for any creep to see or stuffs the younger child like a foie gras goose. I'm sure there was also some pressure for grandkids from the Italian side of the family at the very least. The Lenzas are great at making shitty choices and brewing up resentment. I think raising children should be communal... but that doesn't mean random strangers just take responsibility of random kids. It means things like creches, or fully funded public daycares; it means things like scout/guide/sports/arts/other kids organizations; it means families should live in communities that are actual communities where they know each other and look out for each other; it means kids have safe adults in their lives besides just their parents and teachers. Taking care of children is a calling, and not every parent has that calling, and not every person with that calling is a parent. People with the opposite of that calling, who want nothing to do with children, should not be obliged to have anything to do with them. From each according to their abilities, right?

I think Kelly has probably been floating listlessly all her life. She has a huge chip on her shoulder but she's unintelligent and uncreative so she can't funnel it into art or even a *passion* of some kind. So she drifts along, finds a man who can tolerate her for more than five minutes and marries him because that's what people do. She has kids because that's what people do. She has no reason to question her decisions because this is what her people have done since the Paleolithic.

Kelly has probably always gotten her narc fulfillment online. I mean she was a *furry*, god knows they love to eat each other in every way imaginable.
