Way back when, knew some great generals. Back then there seemed to be more great flag officers than duds. Now the reverse is true. Just glad to be long retired. Glad these chumps are long retired, too. They can talk all they want, but once you retire, unless you have pals still in at high levels, anything you say is just verbal masturbation. And these retired officers who get hired by civilian companies? Unless they buy into the company, they tend to be let go once their connections in the military go away.
I knew some good ones too. Hell, I served under Stormin' Norman. Met the general in charge of V Corps and 3rd CosCom more than once when they came out to inspect the site.
Funny thing is, looking at these guys, you know they were duds and probably could tell they were duds back then.
Of course, the fact so many of them have airborne, air assault, ranger, and SF tabs, when you honestly can't picture them getting into those schools, brings back memories of certain rumors.
See, you'd run into these fucking weenies with the Big Four, and you'd ask "How the FUCK did this faggot beat me to get to Airborne?" when the school admission was fucking tight (At one point you needed 270 on your PT and a letter of recommendation from your CO, your BCO, and your Brigade CO and a 95 or higher on your SQT to go from Europe to Airborne unless you were infantry) as hell and nobody could get a slot.
But there were these rumors. A lot of time, guys with one or two or all of the Big Four would mention it. That there was some weird 'fast track' course for certain officers. Just like it was rumored 5th SF out of Lewis had this fucking unit setup where these fucking duds would get put to jerk each other off without getting in the way of the actual work.
It didn't help that twice there was an enlisted who went to Airborne and Air Assault the same time as an officer claimed he did, but swore that the officer wasn't there. Guy from the Ranger detachment actually called out a Captain on what class he was in and the SSG started calling the Captain a fucking liar right in public. That the Captain wasn't there. That was some snake on snake action right there.
Seeing these guys, really makes me wonder if for once rumor control was right, that there was a dick sucker's path.
Still, if everyone remembers right, one of the "Three Top Generals" has exactly six different medals. That's it. Six. After 40 years. And, IIRC, the other two have nothing but shammer and bunk humper awards. Nothing real.
I know it sounds weird, but if they've been in since 1988 or before, and you look at their ribbon stack, and you don't see the Kuwait Liberation Medal, you can tell right there, 9/10 times, that they've hidden from active deployments their entire career.
