Anime News Network (ANN), Christopher Macdonald & Co. - "Unbiased" Reporting on All Things Anime Related By Snobbish Quebec-Based Web Company. Acquired by Kadokawa.

This type of thing is why any kind of journalism has lost credibility and, at worst, integrity. Conflating two different issues that have nothing to do with one another only to prostrate it as “get vaccinated” is just disingenuous. Granted it’s ANN, but this is too dangerous to not ignore it.

ANN writers listed their best moments of 2021 as part of the ongoing best of 2021 feature, and Caitlin strikes back with a take on fanservice

Yaoi fan service is really thing that ANN has going on for them. Even their favorite “fan service” is just milquetoast by nature.

Caitlin and Lynzee's favorites of 2021 + ANN's favorite movies of 2021
The way Caitlin's list is predictable as f**k. And what was the point of the movie category if literally nobody can pick something besides Evangelion? Oh wait one guy also lists Bandori as a runner-up so I guess that's something.

ANN's worst anime of 2021
I guess nobody had the balls to say Redo of Healer or Mushoku Tensei. Wonder Egg is the most common pick because of the finale OVA shitstorm, then you have a couple guys saying Promised Neverland season 2.

P.S. where did I Love Beef go?

Didn't need to be a bit of an ass with the guy, but I digress

Redo and Mushoku are full of obvious content, sure, but WEP was an utter betrayal to them and other progressives. They initially flocked to the show with doe-eyed hopes it would be their progressive messiah talking about gender, sex, and social issues when they heard the premise. What they instead got was a show that told them the exact opposite of what they wanted to hear. Women are more emotional and erratic than men and fundamentally different. The tomboy characters isn't trans, she's just a tomboy who likes men. Transmen are biologically women no matter what they say. Not every weird guy is a bad person and sometimes its your own paranoia and faults clouding your judgement. It was a bait and switch of their own making and for the weeks they championed the show they ended up looking like fools.

Picking Wonder Egg as the worst anime is the most played out thing in the anime fan circles of today. Most people I know love it because of the fact that it was a real “original“ anime that was made in part with the company that produced it, and fans of that nature care more about the plot and drama than “representation”.

Wonder Egg was not an LN, and it lost the points it had with the OVA finale which is why so many people called it the worst anime here.

As for the other picks:
-Nick picked EX-ARM. Was it really that bad or is it just another case of anime fans considering animation more important than story quality?
-Richard picked the Mahouka siscon spinoff, eh
-James sperging about having to review gorilla isekai
-Rebecca picked Yashahime, but not too harsh on it
-Caitlin picked another bishonen sausage fest. Meaning that even though she calls it her worst, she still liked it enough to watch all the way. What I'm saying, don't cry about moe being "fetishizing" then turn around and watch these shows.

Yeah, I just realized that I confused Wonder Egg with Mushoku Tensei. My mistake on that. Either way, the OVA finale I still believe was blown way out of proportion. It was still one of the best animated pieces of anime I’ve seen so far.

Fuckin amen.

While I understand the need for a certain level of quality standards, the term style over substance really does describe the mentality of ANN and consoomers in general.
This is why creativity is dead and despite there being more indie creators than ever, we get no flourishing indie scene like in the pre-2000's decades. Nothing outside of Megaconglomoagitprop Corp ever goes anywhere.

I keep thinking they mean Sakuran lmao.

Also her screeching about that show reminds me of Anime America infamously ripping into Diabolik Lovers to the point that there is a drinking game about it. BTW follow Anime America. Robyn is great and her videos are not biased at all.

Nick tweeted about Ayakashi Triangle getting a chapter skipped by Viz, and that one ANN/AniFem whiteknight strikes back in the replies.

So, you agree it IS censorship? If I'm not mistaken you're the same one who ranted about someone daring to license Kodomo no Jikan after Seven Seas dropped it, and said Redo of Healer shouldnt've been licensed.

Hope that ANN dick was worth it, fucking cunt...

Censorship is censorship, plain and simple. It doesn't matter if it makes you uncomfortable, you don't have the right to declare what does and doesn't get to come stateside because it offends you you're a whiny little bitch who can't accept that there are people who can take a little spice because they're not pussies.
