I have a little experience around historians and other similar disciplines. Its very in vogue at the moment to shove random political messages and draw connections where there are none. They want to be like Ibriam Kendi(or whatever his real name is) and have a book that gets picked up as mandatory reading across the country. I could rant about this for a while, but suffice to say whether it be twitter ass pats or financial incentives theres a push for this kind of thing all over academia and ironically it makes me long for the times of old white guys giving boring lectures.

Maybe I lack the bored familiarity of the historian, but on the few occasions I glimpse a sarcophagus, or a mummy, or a scrap of papyrus, I don't think to myself, "How can I reframe the actions of this ancient civilization into 19th century European radicalism?"
