It's not even Californians moving to Idaho and bringing stupid ideas on property values. It's dumbfuck Californians buying houses sight unseen and "flipping" them and re-listing them at a 100-300% markup.
Have some kinfolk in southern Idaho who saw a house go for $60k on his street. 450 square foot house, basically a shack. No yard, just a mud field. Bathroom had a cutout in the door cause it couldn't open/close past the toilet. Complete joke of a building, only thing worth anything was the land -- buy it and plop a manufactured home on the lot is the sane thing to do. Was owned by some 80 year old man who retired and passed on in it, same as everyone else in that neighborhood.
Californian assholes bought it sight unseen for $60k and re-listed it a month later for $185k. They're currently renting it out to a migrant family who somehow has 8 people living in it.
This is happening ALL OVER Idaho, and it's ALWAYS Californian assholes. If you talk to them they think they're getting one over on the poor idiot red staters who don't know what property is really worth. But they saw House Flippers and oh,
they know.
Zillow has stopped showing price history (wonder why!) but they still have their fun little charts.

Worth $50k in 2014. Now "worth" $170k 8 years later. It's a 700 square foot "cottage" according to the listing.

Every listing, from the cheapo "cottages" to the housing developments out of town that are all identical McHouse buildings in little neighborhoods by an investment group is doing the same thing, price wise. Everything's magically tripled in value over the past 2-3 years.
I don't know what happens when this bubble collapses, but I think you're gonna see some Californian assholes wish they had never left the safety of their blue states.
